HELLO My battery died after an hour! bought it yesterday 2nd hand. does this mean i need a new battery? it also got rather warm on the back?

This is the first samsung galaxy,,i have it,,and until now,it still work and i have android kitkat 4.4.4 by cyanogenmod,,, :)

i have it since september 2011 and it stil works today with latest cyanogenmod 11 (KitKat 4.4.4)
i am very happy with my tablet
battery time went down to about 4-6 hours of power usage, but thats okay, because it is so old...
at least i can run most apps from the market including Photoshop Touch
with 512mb ram with about 128mb available for user
this tablet is quite slow with more than 3 apps running at the same time... but its OK for everyday use
there is problem with video recording on android over version 4.0 and Skype crashes on calls. but it's not a problem for me

I've already owned it since 2011 and it's still works good and runs great on CM9 ICS 4.0.3, all apps in Play Store are suport :D

My Dad handed it down to me after he got an HTC. It's very comfortable and fluid. I even walk around the public with it. Since samsung technically ditched it, I recommend CyanogenMod too for better handling

when my daughter use her tab for 30 mins the back of the tab begin to heat. and after that it will shut down automatically may i know what is the problem of our tab?

Used my GT-P1000 (GSM) intensively for three years before its first battery began to seriously lose capacity.
Installed new battery and upgraded to KitKat 4.4.2 with Cyanogenmod 11.20140415-nightly-p1 WORKS BEAUTIFULLY - much faster and cleaner without all the origional bloatware that came with original Froyo installation.
I followed instruction from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qrwDDd205o to root the phone and install CWM recovery sucessfully but then I messed up so that it would not boot (my mistake not the fault of the procedure.)
So then I followed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXDvq5SaA70 to install a new factory ROM (Gingerbrerad) and then redid the root/CWM procedure sucessfully.
