Rich - Is your phone a uk spec hand set - mine is from overseas so O2 will not help me - I am convinced that it is an O2 network problem. What do you think??

The download link for loud tone is working fine. just download it it only takes 2 sec's. Also you just make it long for other people to search through this thread by asking questions that have been asked a million times. It is very annoying. Now a good question is has anybody found an updated firmware for this phone?

Great Phone. But? the name of the people in my PHONEBOOK in not showing on the callerID at all times. Even thou i have some of the names stored, but still it will only show the number, for some of them. ANY IDEA!

I would like to know how other people's P310s perform in terms of battery life, with and mainly without the leather case ? Mine has a very low battery life when not in the case, less than a day on average. What abour yours ?

Thanks for your comparison. I found it very interesting. I used the p310 at the zoo last week and the pictures I took on a sunny day are amazing. Your right to say if you want very good pics hold the camera very steady and your shots will be top notch.

i own the SonyEricsson K790a Cybershot line and also this phone, the Samsung P310. For camera differences, i find the P310 shoots better pictures and it only has 2.0M pixels with a fixed lens versus the K790a, which has 3.2M pixels with an auto focus lens. this somehow is really surprising. the only cause i can think of is the P310 must not implement a low-pass filter in their lens whereas the K790a has implemented a low quality low-pass filter. low-pass filter is used to make the picture better by slightly softening moire effects. this makes sense because K790a is meant to be camera-first then phone so Sony puts all their efforts in this area by implementing more features to supposedly make it a better camera phones than others. the end results indicate that implementing extra features to make the outcome pictures better by using low quality low-pass filter would generally make the pictures worse than without it. that is why most people find pictures taken by the NOkia N73 camera phone appear sharper than the K790a. Nokia, like Samsung, had purposely left out the low-pass filter in order to cut down the costs and on the other hand, sharpen the pictures. the colors appear more natural on the K790a than on the P310. the K790s camera shutter is also significantly faster in response than the P310. i saw a posting earlier from someone complaining that the pictures taken by P310 is blurry because the shutter response is too slow. to work around this problem, you really have to put in extra effort and hold the phone very still for 2 seconds to produce sharp pictures; if you don't, the pictures will be slightly blurry as he claims. i would not use this phone to take pictures in low lighting conditions merely because it does not have Xenon flash as equipped on the K790a. low-lighting conditions, the K790a does excel all camera phones, but still cannot excel a pure digital cameras.
as a phone and styling, it is top notch! the ear-piece speaker is very loud, UNLIKE the K790a and all of SonyEricsson phones. the K790a ear-piece set a maximum volume is still not comfortable to hear in noisy environments such as Starbucks or on the streets. the P310 definitely excels the K790a in this area. for styling, well, this is what this phone is all about. for MP3 playback, the P310 is limited by four playlist - unusual. the K790a will excel in this area because it allows as many playlists as you want to create. for MP3 sound quality, they all sound the same if you are using a high quality headsets.

To install java games (this is how I do it):
1. key in '#*9998*javainstall#', it should say 'activated'. Retyping that will deactivate java install.
2. make sure you have the jar file converted to a jad file. you can download a program called jadmaker
3. transfer (I find usb cable the best, bluetooth might not work as good) both jar and jad files to your phone's internal memory under the 'other files' folder. Important: the files names must be the same! e.g. game.jar and game.jad
4. go back to your phone and view the jad file, select install.
5. enjoy your new game!!
I actually have a question though, most java games that I've found are 240x320 but is not full screen when I start the game, which poses some problems. Has anyone found games that are perfect for samsung p310?
