Samsung P900 DMB phone

06 Feb, 2006

Samsung is going for the European video broadcast market this year, as they will present their new SGH-P900 DMB (Digital Media Broadcast) phone at the 3GSM World Congress.

The new device is based on Korean DMB technology that has been adapted for the European broadcast standards. The clamshell supports EPG (Electronic Program Guide) for user convenience in loading and searching a DMB program. The thing about this phone is the landscape mode of the display. The Samsung P900 can record broadcasts for later watching and also has TV-out port for exporting the image to a television set. The supplemented 100 MB internal memory can be assisted by a memory card using the microSD slot.

The Samsung P900 DMB phone is scheduled for shipping in Q2 2006

At 124g, it is amazingly light, given the features. dvb-h and t-dmb are quite similar. dmb piggy-back on dab while dvb-h is modified from dvb-t.
