"Samsung GT-S5200 handset does not support downloading of any third party applications / softwares in the handset. The handset supports downloading of compatible java games supporting jad and jar formats supporting MIDP 2.0 . The compatible java games can be downloaded in the handset through GPRS only"
And also crapy thing is that T9 is only available in messaging, u can't find it anywhere else in the phone. One should weight for ages for any text they type in memo etc.
Crap phone to my opinion, didn't have functionality close to a very classic below RS.2000 phone.
Don't go for this phone if u want to be in 21st century, u will surely feel that u are thrown 10 years in past after using this phone.
I am feeling very annoying to use this phone. Today i was to enter a number in the memo, i cannot narrate my pathetic situation when 1 or 0 comes, i feared will i ever complete the typing as it has no support of T9 and should pass through all the symbols in them to get to those numbers.
I think only samsung corby is the only phone which samsung want to market.
And to all the people who want to buy this phone. Goto samsungmobile.com>contactus(at bottom) ask them about what i mentioned. Don't be fooled by the 3MP camera if u fall for that u will loose a lot like me.
Extreme dullness of this phone is its Proprietary software which does'nt allow any third party applications what so ever at all. Samsung sucks in this and mentioned nowhere about this in specifications of the phone.
At last don't expect any software freedom like sony ericsson or nokia with this phone. If u doesn't want any changes in the phone forever go for this.

hahahhahaha is dis true man,.,.,hhahahahahahahhaha really???? i gues ur hawing chinese s5200.,, dat can only b d reason which is not letting u to zoom the camera bcoz i often do zoom in mah s5200's cam both in video and pic mode.,,
.,.,u wil not be able to use zoom feature while camera is ON. first capture the image.save it. go to "menu" then go to "my files" option. open a image, go to option button and use the zoom feature.

hahahhaha well i dont agree , bcoz me often often plays games on my samsung s5200 like prince of persia, splinter cell , jardians , cricket etc and etc,.,.,etc

First i want to mention its drawbacks, which are real and found by me after its usage.
1)one can never install any third party applications anyway. So no dictionary, document reader etc
2)Games can only be downloaded through gprs and strictly cannot from the pc.
3)severely uncustomizable, won't allow any changes by the user. Should stick to the phone as it is for ever(no software support to this phone)
4)No document reader as stated by some sites, they are wrong, no document reader of any type nor a provision to install it.
Rest all is ok. If u want to customize and install applications of u'r choice don't ever go to this phone. I think samsung is not good at software issues. This phone host a proprietary OS which wont allow any change in it. Being a student i feel this phone is not very useful for college going students.
Suggestion: Read carefully the specifications from the official sites only as i bought this phone thinking that it has document viewer as sated in many review sites, but it hasn't got any document reader( i enquired with samsung)
Samsung provides query service on phones goto samsungmobile.in>contact us(At bottom of page), here u can query about any samsung phone before buying for its functions and features, u will get answer through email.
Don't be haste in buying samsung phones as it is not a standard company like NOKIA and Sony Ericcssion with software updation options and good customizability.
Hope my review is usefull, what ever i wrote is true to my best knowledge on phone.

Vijay, 04 Jun 2010I cant able to play video file in my Samsung S5200 mobile e... moreit can play only .mp4 and .3gp formates, with 15 FPS, with resolution set to 320x240. Set these parameters in u r video converter. then it will play, u must set 15 FSP and res 320x240.

Major drawback, No backlight for keys on upper slider. Records video at only 15 FPS.
