Hey Ipsit, ill give you a list of the good and bad things about this phone.
Advantages:
Good sized screen and good resolution for the price.
Sensitive touch screen considering it uses old technology; it can also be used with gloves or stylus unlike newer technologies.
One of the loudest phones on the market, good music player with several equalisers.
Good camera for the price, clear photos.
Accelerometer (Rotate the phone to view pictures sideways, to input text using the on screen QWERTY keyboard, whilst viewing the pictures in landscape mode you can tilt the phone slightly to make the pictures "flow" through the screen. Also used for motion based gaming and for applications such as Tumbling Dice).
Easy to use TouchWiz interface. This includes three seperate homescreens which can be customised with different widgets which are shortcuts to applications and websites.
Disadvantages:
The screen isn't as responsive as newer technologies which can sometimes make it hard to use.
There is no flash or autofocus on the camera (so close-ups and night shots are a no-go).
This phone is not a smartphone so there are not many 3rd party applications and games.
No hardware keys can make texting difficult if you have big thumbs.
No 3G or WiFi support; this makes it slow to use the internet, which is a shame considering it has a good webkit based browser.
There is no standard USB port or 3.5mm jack (meaning you can't use your own headphones and meaning you have to use samsungs own cables to connect to a PC).
Good phone if you're on a budget.

i bought this phone in june'09 and now iam facing problem while i do some conversation...the phone mutes all by itself for a few secs and then comes back..this happens a 100times while talking and starts gettin on ones nerve....also downloading games into this is not an easy task as that of nokia phones...i still cant figure out how to download java games from PC to my cell phone...i think SAMSUNG shud learn this from nokia and use earphones as that of sony ericsson

shanita, 24 Nov 2009i have a samsung star, and its cute but u cant read ur txt ... moreNo.. you can read n write text while you are on the phone. For viewing text message, just click answering button to go to the call logs n there if you have a log for message recd, then click that to go into the messages recd to read the message. And for writing message you have that in in "more" button and select send message.

130 euros now in Bangkok, real bargain for this great phone ! Buy this one instead of crappy low specs Nokia.

I currently have a Nokia E71 and I was a former Sony Ericsson P990i user. I bought this phone as a second phone. I was skeptical at first but when I tried it and I bought it, I was so surprised at how easy it is to use. I didn't even have to read the manual. After a couple of minutes I was getting the hang of it. It's my first Samsung phone and I love it. :)

I've got a problem here. Whenever my phone is in the process of receiving a video from my friend's phone (N95), my phone restarts automatically and the transfer, obviously, fails. I fail to understand the reason behind this. Is it because of the size of the video? But why should that be the problem when I've set the default memory as in the memory card?

i have S5233 wifi,i didn't know where to post my question except here so pardon me.
anyways..i'm trying to access internet via wifi connection but i'm not able to, the phone gives the message "DNS" failed,although i entered an IP address and DNS address,so can anyone point me the right way to access internet wifi.
