You get a really big virtual keypad which you can use T9 on, or you can switch to a large QWERTY keyboard, both real easy to use, I do a lot of texting too and have had no problems at all.

i buy this phone it is very nice phone large screen useful for maps internet very sensitive to touch .by small touch you do every thing thank you samsung

I'm thinking of buying this phone, it seems so good. Is the music player good? Is it good to text from, as I am a frequent "texter".
I'm not too fussed about the camera, so long as the phone has good features.
Also, is it useful to use a screen protector? Is the touch sensitivity good?

i have had this phone and the camra is poo (no flash) the batt lasts all of em 1 day and it keeps telling me the there isnt enough memory wheni go on the net its slow it just aint quick enough for me but i do like the idear though of no key pad it is hard work for an every day phone ??

1.Difficu... moreRe point number 1 - its very easy just got to any of the sites that advertise on here and download, I have done many.
Re the battery, common sense, reduce feedback vibrate, reduce backlight intensity, switch off bluetooth when not in use, mine lasts 3-4 days easy with lots of calls, texts and online

5800 aka tube is way more superior from the spec n price..u can't compare it with this affordable touch fone.
there is no open OS in star,it's a java base fone.for a java base...it's quite flexible..ofcourse it still can't do multitask while u r on the fone line.

pc studio doesn't work?hmm...try download it from samsung web site.
i already try to back up phonebook...it's easy..maybe u just not used to it.
no flash??well,it's a low budget touch fone.wanna more?buy omnia instead this..
for me..this fone rocks for it price range...

Dear Maynn,
Overall good, but be prepared to:
1.Difficult to install new java apps and games. Service center people dont have a clue about this.
2.Samsung pc studio does not support a great deal. even backing up phone data is difficult. compared to this, nokia pc suite is really helpful.
3. If you send lot of sms to lot of people, pls reconsider. At a time, only 10 senders in a group supported!
4. Battery drains quite fast.
5. No flash!

This Phone does not have 3G & also Its Does not have Call Recorder, If any incoming Call is coming u cannot opreate any functions. It has Software Problem Also. The main thing is that It is samsung u will not have any resale value. It is better to go for 5800 Nokia

s5233 is the asian version of star.
s5230 is the europe version.. ofcourse cell shops in the philippines will offer you the s5233 coz phil is is in asia..
as for your inquiry, i think s5233 is just the same of s5230, and i think the s5233 has already an updated software.. so its good! and s5233 has stylus and compartment!

Anyone who know how to start skype/fring on this Phone, I saw that there is no Skype/Fring for my mobile, if someone know if works with fring for any different model, please give me a link :). Thanks !
