I only bought this phone today and it suits me down to the ground. It provides facebook access via a widget, but no twitter, easily sorted by downloading Snaptu.
The only problem I personally have with this phone is setting pictures as wallpaper, for some reason it wont resize up, only sideways. Which means that pics are either to zoomed in or to small to see. Also, a minor niggle, the included software refused to work after updating, but that was also sorted by downloading the new version from samsung directly.

i happened to buy this phone for our employees and their is a sign of danger,all have concerns with its hardware or may i call it software e.g ,touch,memory loss,freezing(hanging) all that staff.is it a coincidence i bought the ones with problem? they are actually less than a year in service.

Another observation (this might be my 10th from my previous list):
The alarm which you set offs itself randomly. (similar as with the default memory you set) I realized this twice when I had to be awaken and overslept. Ha Ha fricking hah.
Dear Samsung Test Labs: you lack experience. And we know it.

Dipu, 04 Jan 2011I've just started using this phone but can help u on one po... moreYeah I know that, but then again: today an incoming call came, and I wanted to put it on silent. The volume buttons are for this job, but when the display goes dark (after the 5th ringing), ALL button functions die on the phone. Except the unlock button of course which you have to press for 4 seconds at least to take effect.

Hi guys, i have read a lot of users complaining about the java installation problem. I got a star and it can install all the java applications with .jar and .jad, i dont know why people are saying this. Previoulsy i was usig nokia 5233, star is way better in terms of touch experience, web browser and other applications... its really fun to use!!!

The default memory - set by user to memory card - chang... moreI've just started using this phone but can help u on one point that during an incoming call when keys are locked, u can unlock them by pushing the black coloured button given on the right side of the phone. I think since it is a touch screen phone, tht is why the phone got locked during the call so tht by the touch of user's face any unwanted key does not start functioning.

1. The default memory - set by user to memory card - changes back to phone memory randomly without notice. Therefore making photos or saving data from bluetooth becomes annoying when it says you have no free memory whilst you own a 16GB card.
2. It does not recognize .jar or .jad files. Never.
3. Most widgets (that require internet) cannot use internet. What a paradox!
4. During an incoming call, while the phone rings and the keys are locked and the display goes dark to keep on ringing, the keys cannot be unlocked. You have to wait for the call to end. And redial the missed call.
5. Cannot play any flash/java via its internet browser. I'm talking mainly about youtube and facebook.
6. Camera: CANNOT FOCUS. Shutter button with one function. It only has autofocus that works when there is enough light. 3.2 Mpixel camera makes a big picture with low resolution. The picture's size is big, the quality bad. (advice: use it on 1MP. Makes photos faster.)
7. Copies files from card to phone if you use them as ringtone or contact photo. If you use the same ringtone for 10 different contacts, it will make 10 copies of it on the phone's memory. (advice: make a folder on the phone's memory and use the file from that folder.)
8. Disconnects from bluetooth headphones randomly while the cell is in my pocket or in the car. But WHY???
9. Voice recorder can only record up to 5 minutes. Again: WHY???
10. There is no 10 yet. But if you know of a cellphone that does all the above in the correct manner, I advice you to think twice before you buy the S5230. I got it for free! :-)

hey guys, i have the samsung star for about a year now and i find it extremely easy to use. even my kids find it a breeze. it has everything u wud require in a phone, the only problem is that i dont know how to set up my email from this phone, but fantastically i found an alternate way which is google. terrific phone guys, you wont go wrong i promise
