sams... moreHey Rizwan, u say samsung a cheap brand, let me tell you that Samsung Electronics, a mobile phone provider, announced that sales of the Samsung Star, its hugely popular touch screen mobile phone, surpassed the 5 million mark this month. The Samsung Star (model number Samsung S5230), launched in May 2009, is the fastest cell phone in Samsung’s history to reach the milestone. Launched first in Europe, one million of the Samsung Star phones were sold in the first month and a half alone, after which the company expanded sales efforts to include markets in CIS, Southeast and Southwest Asia, East-Central Africa, China, and Central America.
More than 700,000 units of the Samsung Star handset were sold in May and more than 900,000 new Samsung Star handsets in June. Monthly sales in July and August were 1.6 million and 1.8 million, respectively. Based on the current trend, Samsung projects total cumulative sales to reach 10 million globally by November 2009. The Samsung Star was launched as an affordable mobile phone, appealing to young consumers with its slim, 11.9 mm body and 3-inch WQVGA touch screen. It also boasts high-tech features such as Samsung's exclusive high-quality sound technology, DNSe, as well as a SmileShot-enabled camera and Bluetooth v2.1. The Star's global success can be attributed in part to its sleek design, interactive and user-friendly UI, and its reasonable price point.

i just bought the fone and im enjoying.its rival is the LG cookie,which is also a touch screen but i like the samsung better.Mine is the S5233W star,not much different from the former except of significance is the extra memory,this one came with 90mb internal memory.for the price and fone capabilities,its a bargain,go buy it.

I av used nokia5610 & now 5530xpressmusic and i am regrettin gettin them hope to av d star wifi as it not yet in d Nigerian market hence my buyin d lame xpressmusic as there specs are all mouth waterin but performance sucks relatively.

Samsung star wifi hasnt been officially released in Pakistan..Im tired of reading blogs..yet somehow excited....I used nokia 5530 xm and believe me, its sorta sucky..i prefer my current nokia 5220 xm over it....im waiting for samsung star wifi to show up..so that I can rub it on ppl's faces..cheers

I am using this phone for a week now, some pointers as below:
- A great value-for-money - good buy
- Bluetooth and wifi connectivity is smooth
- Lot of features, and best possibly for a phone at this price range (got it at Bangalore, from Global Access for Rs.9900)
- It have a free 2gb memory card, a pouch, data-cable (which acts as USB charger too), a travel charger, a decent stereo headfone and stylus...all in the box.
- Processor speed is awesome...used Nokia 5880 before...its much faster than that.
- FM is presentable
- Phone itself is light and sleek
- Touchscreen is pretty responsive (but get a screen guard fixed while buying for scratch prevention)
On the down side:
- Should have come with Yahoo/gtalk messenger apps too...however, thats not a show-stopper...you can download equivalent stuffs from the net.
- Would have preferred an HTC like exterior finish, however opinions may differ on this.
End word:
Pretty awesome phone at this price range...a very good buy!

n if u talk bout cpu than eat this:
nokia hi-end phones even x6 or n97 have lousy "ARM 11 434 MHz processor"
whereas samsung introducin its mid range phone (even half of nokia's price) with great "ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz, PowerVR SGX graphics"
