well i was a nokia lover at one point of time.. for 6 years i used different nokia handsets, my last phone was nokia 6300.. to b frank i was fed up of the same symbian shit!! same menu style, same boring design, no innovation.. hence this time i opted for a samsung, star 3g.. and i must say, i m really impressed with it.. the phone is farrrrrrr better then nokia when it comes to music and web browsing.. plus there are features that no nokia phone at this price can offer me!! nokia 5800 has a million software probs, my frnd had to gv the phone fr service just a couple of months after purchase.. nokia is just venturing out into the new end world, its still experimenting, while samsung has been there, done that already.. i would rather go fr a samsung jet thn a nokia5800 at tht price.. i wouldnt wanna subject wanna be a part of nokias experiments, till its not out wth a handset tht promises change and better functionality, i wouldnt opt for a nokia.. samsung is taking over phone markets, says alot.. nokia is declining and i wouldnt argue on that.. its losing out on avid nokia fans lik me, coz i dont see change.. i just see the same stuff i saw 2yrs bk..

Actually I am not willing to get into whether Nokia is better or Samsung is better. But I can definitely say that Samsung is coming very strongly with a wonderful price to performance ratio. That is showing in their increase of Market share worldwide. Nokia's market share is going down fast. It is sad to see that Nokia is coming up with "Me-too" kind of devices. Recently I am noticing that the first impression of Nokia phones is disillusioning. Of course they always rectify issues with firmware updates. So I would suggest that we as responsible cell phone lovers should not nit pick one company’s models in another’s forum. GSM Arena is a nice website and let us use it to our maximum advantage.

          @ Rizwan:

Com'on...the more u talk, the more it makes nonsense. Plz try to argue when u make sense. Its obvious that itz so childish to compare a mid-range proprietary phone with a hi-end OS based phone. If u wanna compare Nokia 5800 with Samsung...then do it with Samsung B7300 OmniaLite.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2009Star stands nowhere in competition to Nokia smartphones.Jus... moreWhy would you compare it to a twice as expensive Nokia?
It's annoying. Why do people compare great entry-level phones to high-ends?
This Samsung is not a smartphone. It does not have any specific OS either. It's just a normal mobile phone with Samsung's UI and a huge, decent touchscreen display. It's one of the most popular phones right now that sell really well. The biggest fault was that it did not have Wifi. Now it comes with a wifi upgrade which makes it perfect for entry-level.

I tested S5230 and it's nice phone for not too much money. Only thing I wanted is WiFi. With this S5230W you got cheap competitor to iPhone and a good one :)

I bought the Star Wars edition of the phone but the feature to transform into a lightsabre is not working effectively. Also the GPS system is not compatible with Deathstars, which makes one question why they even released a Star Wars edition if it does not fit the needs of evil emperors across the galaxy.

I just bought this handset yesterday. It cost me 10500Rs. You can not get cheapest phone with wifi and I think this is the right handset.

I browsed different website via wife connection.

It has 3.2 mega pixel camera. If you have proper sunlight you can take great picture with this handset.

you can take different kind of picture from this handset

                              Its really worthy.

im shocked to hear from you guys regarding this star with wifi, its just been a month since i transferd from a samsung shop to a multibrand. and this wifi star is not clear to me and i guess im not that updated anymore, i guess it would be better to me to consult samsung regarding this wifi star first.

the only thing i know now is the omonia 2 and HD is available in philippine market right now.

Well,Would like to keep things simple and straight here,If you need a touchscreen phone for day to day usage then my opinion is to buy samsung star (have wifi connectivity available around you then it would be star wifi),If you are someone, who wants to try more of apps on cell phones, then it would be 5530 0r 5800 by nokia.
I have tried my hands on star,I use the phone for listening to music, browse, msging and the basic phone functionality,,make and recieve calls.
The star wifi will be available in my region by tomorrow and am gonna buy one.
Anyone tried to browse on star using wifi,Am not able to view any comments on the wifi connectivity of star wifi, wanted to know the streaming behaviour of youtube via wlan connection.
