    Bad News S8003 jet !

    It seems that samsung is taking a good care of the New S8000 users and just made an update for them !

    they left the S8003 alone ! no phone software update ! No GPS 3rd party software compatible with the S8003 !

    Anyone who is interested with Jet , MAKE SURE you buy the right one , Buy the S8000 NOT the S8003 .

    We were the 1st to buy it , and it seems samsung left us alone and will concentrate on the new users of S8000 . it seems S8003 is a beta version for the Jet .

              And for those who are complaining about battery life ! here is some tweaking to make battery life longer :

              - Menu > Settings > Phone setting > Vibration feedback , make the intensity 0 ( zero ). making the phone vibrate to any touch you make drains battery .

              - Don't turn ON WI-FI unless you need to use it , like any phone , WI-FI drains large amount of battery life .

              - If you want to use your phone as an MP3 player or to watch videos For long trips , take the SIM card off and use it without the SIM .

                Guys

                this is NOT a smart phone ( Not a Windows mobile , NOT symbian ) , it has a nice , friendly OS .... and that is that !

                For ALL your questions and needs for this phone is simple . IF you want a phone with business and mailing and word editor , GO for a smart phone and skip this one !

                IF you want a simple fast , entertainment ,touch screen , user friendly OS and good amount of apps included ( java ) this phone is ONE of the best out there right now .

                        KceeGee, 17 Jul 2009@R3D or CD, How is the battery life of the S8000 Jet? ... moreS8300 always had battery issues, u'll see that in every forum out there (thats why i din buy it n then i saw previews for J3T :D)
                        The 8000 doesn't have any such probs. Whether it'll last u 9 hours i don't know cuz i never listen to so much music. But ppl are sayin n i also get 2-3 days easy even after playin around with it all day so i think it'll last + it has 5.1 sound wid earphones which i dun think 5800 has.

                        8000=>1100 mAh 8300=>880 mAh

                        PS-search for "battery" in this forum n ull see every one pretty happy
                        oh, and where do u work dude, listenin to music all day lol .... n amoled screen will let u watch ur music videos too ;)

                          Can anybody tell me why vidostreaming on the internet does not work (only you tube). Do I something wrong, need to install something or is the phone not capeable of doing this? Maybe an update ?

                            @R3D or CD,

                            How is the battery life of the S8000 Jet?

                            Im quite curious if can last me 9 hours while listening to music?

                            That was the deal-breaker for me with the S8300.

                            The 5800 was said to last from 30-35 hours offline and more than 24 hours as a normal phone. Im inclined to get the 5800 just because of the battery life, but if the S8000 can give me atleast half of the 24 hours I think I'll go with it, because of the camera and Advanced R screen.

                            Thank you in advance! ^_^

                              CD, 16 Jul 2009Hello!!! I just bought a Samsung Jet and thought I shoul... moreHI!
                              Well I know that this post will sound as if I am from Samsung but I'm not.
                              Not sure why you mention "IS NOT a smartphone". Have you bought it thinking it was smart? I bought it because it was not! Saw it on arena review 1st.

                              I disagree with you since it can be said that "it’s smarter than one" because what it means is that JET has very good functionalities that sometimes are even better than some smartphones. In another words there are smartphones that don’t catch-up with JET.
                              Agree with you that Samsung problem is the lack of software, but I'm sure they know it and probably they (or user community) will change that (java?). I think all phone brands did notice recent news about Apple earnings with software for Iphone. This proves a win condition with a FEW good phones AND good software selling and support.
                              About Samsung proprietary OS I think you are not being fair saying it is underdeveloped and crappy. Why you say that? The negative arguments you pointed are lack of software, nonsense widgets and lambo CPU. For a new OS it is extremely good and shows an exceptional software development team behind able to launch a new OS with such a stability level.
                              Yup, widgets are an eye catching fast selling feature (a candy); some of them make no sense at all. I hope Samsung will allow us to delete them in next firmware, as well as changing shared memory size.
                              800Mhz cpu? Probably this is one of the reasons for long battery life. I would say it’s a very green lambo CPU…
                              All I can say is that in recent years I had Smartphone’s and this is my 1st non Smartphone, just for a simple reason, JET has all I need (and even more!).

                                Hello!!!

                                I just bought a Samsung Jet and thought I should rright my review on it. First of all Samsung Jet IS NOT a smartphone, neither smarter than one. The reason I am telling that is because it runs on Samsung's proprietary OS which is highly underdeveloped. The design of the phone is great, the touchscreen is excellent, highly responsive and a great resolution. The camera takes good pictures and you can film great videos with it. I've tried some divx movies on it and it works perfect, the internet browser is quite good and supports flash. The biggest disadvantage to this phone is the lack of decent applications, the phone comes with 20 or more applications but many of them are just links that take you to the internet browser (ex. facebook), you can try to download apps from samsung's widget website but you won't find more than 24 (when I last checked) most ov them being different version of clocks (truly boring). So bottom line for some one who is looking for a touchscreen PHONE the Jet is the best of its kind but if you are looking for a SMARTPHONE stay away from Jet and go for a WinMo, Android, Symbian or Mac OS. I really don't understand why Samsung packed the phone with a 800Mhz CPU but installed this crappy OS, it's like putting a lamborghini engine on a carbon box. Anyway hope this helps.

                                Cip.
