Yes, Wave sound quality does seem a LITTLE better, but this is subjective and may vary from man to man.
Both are loud enough for me, no issues in that respect :)

asgme, 19 Jan 2011You insane, contradict your own point. While there is no fo... morei have both sets in my hands and undoubtdly 8500 is winner. but what is the point in discussing all this when 8500 is no longer available. we have only one option and that is 8530. so friends don,t argue like cartoons. we are here to discuss our problems and opinions only related to 8530.
samsung achieved the sale target of 8500 quickly and stop production to fascilitate galaxy's sale. by the end of december it will stop production of galaxy to fascilitate sale of it's other top and expensive models then samsung will anounce another wave model with 4.0" super amoled screen and bada 3.0 or more and then both of you (8500 and 8530 wave owners) will feel cheated and disappointed.
so morale of the story is that if you really need a phone then go and buy 8530 as it is the only good option and never try to compare it with 8500 and enjoy. if it,s not urgent and you can wait then definetly it will be worth waiting and you will be rewarded with great model and best specs. sorry, if I heart the sentiments of anybody

Anonymous, 19 Jan 2011Seems ppl are pissed off either due to superiority of Samol... moreThe Main difference lies in the Music output. In the internal settings wave 2 is set as 55db as default. You cannot edit them. But in wave 1 it is set as 58db wherein 3 db gives good volume difference when heard through headphones with good clarity. Also in wave 1 we can edit the same if you require more volume. These facilites are not available in wave 2 which is a major flaw.

Save it as 'Excel 97-2003 Workbook' in '.xls' format in your PC, move it again into your Wave II and open it there without any issue.

tissot, 19 Jan 2011hey man now you are talking sensible, good. as far as galax... moreYou insane, contradict your own point. While there is no font size manipulation, the default font lets you more free space to manage other graphics in the bigger screen on Wave II than on Wave, which was bit clumsy with same big fonts.
Again you contradict your view. If you need to dampen the brightness manually then what is the need of the higher brightness in Super AMOLED. And for your kind information the brightness in Super AMOLED does really affect your eyes for a constant viewing from a close range. I feel it so even while watching it in naked eye in a dark room on the Super Clear LCD of my Wave II, which is less bright than Super AMOLED of Wave.
Color in Wave 8500 is more vibrant, everybody should agree. But color in Wave II is far more natural than in Wave, which attracts me more because I was a painter (only was and do not have time in my busy schedule now) and like photography a great deal.
And for your information I had option of buying both sets; Wave S8500 from Kolkata and Wave II S8530 from Delhi, and I bought Wave II for having Bada v1.2, .4 inch bigger screen and better and latest firmware in it, apart from only going for the Super AMOLED.
You value your hard earned money, very sensible. This is a feature of a person who pays his every drop of sweat behind his every earned penny. That's really great to listen that both you and I belong to this group of mankind as well.
But man, isn't it even a bit satisfactory if you pay only a few bucks more to get the best for yourself. And I really wonder what does a price difference of Rs. 400/600 or even Rs. 800 matter while you buy a cell phone of about Rs. 17/17.5K?
You became so passionate about Wave 8500, wasted your time behind considering to buy that and it went off the showrooms. Many other people flaunt your darling in broad daylight and now your sweet-heart is dead. She must be the best for you eyes only. Then why do you try to compare her with others? She had some lacks, but she was the best in the world for you. But you should know that there are better sets than your darling in the market.
There are a few comparison video between 8500 and 8530 in Youtube and some comparison article in some other websites (for this google your own). Go, check those videos and you won't find much difference in screen brightness and clarity but you find a considerable difference in size which creates more room for everything in Wave II.
Man, we are consumers and we are never happy about any price tag. But the fact is we need to digest the reality and choose the best within our budget, obviously.
I know that Samsung is playing the game mentioned in your comments. That's quite true. But at the same time mostly Samsung and after that HTC and Micromax have created a whirlwind of price and feature revolution in the mobile market and catching up its competitors so fast that market shares of the market leader Nokia dip quite sharply and Nokia has to bring down the price of its handsets and make them feature rich in recent past. So they know how to pull the consumer base to their favour and that is why Samsung does not fool us, rather satisfies consumers like you and me in a healthy way.
You lost the opportunity to fill your pocket with a Wave S8500. I very dearly suggest you not to lose the opportunity to fill it with a Wave II S8530. If you are a bit angry about the unavailability of your darling now, wait a bit longer, you will calm down and the price of the Wave II S8530 will come down below Rs. 17K too. But go for a brand new Wave II S8530. I promise you will be overwhelmed and I promise your joy will be more as you will wait so long to marry the younger sister of your dead sweet-heart.
And last of all, very sorry to be remained as Anonymous while shouting back to your indiscriminate war-cry.
Never mind, mate....... hahahaha!!!

I own both phones and have been using them for some time now...I can safely say from my hands-on experience that .4 inch larger screen is a fair trade-off for Samoled...not much difference with Slcd :)
I am ready to accept that any one of them is miles ahead of the other, but only from someone who has used both and not some fanboy (no offence meant to anybody)...just trying to share some practical experience, thats it
Given a choice, it would be really difficult for me to choose one over the other, honestly

Hi frnds..
I baught this 2 days back. firstly I planed to buy wave 8500 but this had been dicontinued. I became very unhappy with samsung because my mind was stuked on SAMOLED. Even after all that I baught wave-2 8500. I tell u I am very much happy to own that. I got bigger screen, newer version of BADA & SUPER CLEAR LCD screen that is not so bad that the people says. I compared this with galaxy s screen and I found not much difference in screen clearity. I take off these two in sunlight also but there was not much difference in screen clearity & visibility. I liked this phone very much. Thanx samsung...

Tarun

Firstly people fought between S-AMOLED and S-LCD. I would say the discussions on the screen were like a World War.
Now people are fighting over the prices saying Wave II is not worth more than 15,000.
No matter even if the phone is not worth 5000 Rs also, thats fine.. Owners of Wave II are not gonna feel bad about the price they have bought whether its more or less. I bought Wave II for a solid price of Rs 18,600 and a screen guard for another Rs 300 which would make my budget Rs 19,000 for Wave II. But I dont regret spending that amount.. If I would have waited for a month I would have saved some bucks, but the feeling to own Wave II made me to buy it earlier..
Not only mobile, each and every electronic device depreciates in value as each day proceeds.. but that doesn't mean we have to wait till the price comes down. If we wait, we will not be able to buy anything..
(No offenses on any other model holders).
Regards,
PR.
