Maninder, 28 Nov 2010I just checked this phone on a shop in amritsar, price 1290... moreMaybe you are talking about S5750 not this phone. Theres no way you can get this phone for Rs 12900 (unless 2nd hand). This phone supports 3G video calling and has front facing camera for it.

Amit, 29 Nov 2010SAMSUNG's PRICING STRATEGY: Hi..Im new for Samsung..been... moreThe fall in price for any handset is common but their is a difference in the degree of fall. Nokia for instance prices its new product very highwen launched but after few months the price falls by 40%( ex- nokia 5800). In case of samsung n ericsson both of them set competetive price points during a product launch, and one can observe a marginal dip in prices in months to come... I hope i've helped u..

Irrespective of what the critics say The New Wave II is a superb phone. Indeed S-AMOLED would have been better. But there are a few more things I would like to add to this superb looking phone:

          >Along with Quad Band GSM also give World Band 3G connectivity, making it truely a world phone.

          >Another unusual demand is that I want this phone to be a DUAL SIM one like the STAR DUOS B7722.

          >Kindly increase the battery capacity to 2700 mAh Lithium Polymer one, the increase in thickness won't be much, but performance would definately improve.

          >Now it is possible to put a Dual Core 1.5 Ghz Qualcomm processor with Dedicated Graphics chip and minimum 32 Gb inbuilt RAM.

          >Give a minimum of 8 mpx Autofocus camera with 1080p full HD @ 30 fps with dual LED flash and a 2 mpx front secondary video call camera. This should be the minimum standard.

          >The screen could be further increased to 4 inches Capacitive Gorilla glass. With samsung's new plant we can expect Super AMOLED2 in this handset too.

          >Wave was very good in terms of hardware and we used to wonder if Samsung could put Android in it, it would be much value for money. So why not put Android 3.0 in it.

          >Well since I am asking for too much, can you guys also fit in a side sliding physical QWERTY keyboard.

          >Your KIES is not much up to the mark, can we have something like the Nokia PC suite. It is a much better one.

Samsung I love your creations, they are superb devices, but why leave one thing or the other lacking.

I really liked the Star DUOS B7722, but I would like to have a handset with the above specs. And yes, DUAL SIM handsets have a large market in INDIA, provided you deliver the goods and have some niche in it.

Ariv, 29 Nov 2010I would suggest after having used Nokia dont switch to Sams... moreeven the SLCD in 8530 has some upsides as well.

            Its bigger
QWERTY is lot more comfy fr that reason
Due to the extended breadth, the apps in the homepage are not anymore so crowded (like 8500)

but thats the single-only downside of the 8530.

Infact if u look at other review sites, they have evn ratedthe SLCD better fr indoor (dunno why GSMARENBA is xactly opposite!)

              chck it : http://www.mobile-review.com/review/samsung-wave2-s8530-en.shtml

8500 would be launched by mid2011..6 months' wait woild be too much..by that time other brands..or may be even SAMSUNG itself ould hav launched new better handsets.

you know on any given day a Nokia will fetch you a better resale value
why i say this is Wave II has S-LCD its not even AMOLED
I would ask you to wait till next year seriously may be till the mid of next year if you are seriously looking to buy a nice handset

else if you got money to splurge then its your take

                  SAMSUNG's PRICING STRATEGY:

                  Hi..Im new for Samsung..been a NOKIA fan.
I want to know frm the guys who alredy wknow thngs bout Samsung's pricing strategy.

Does SAMSUNG decrease the handset price considerably after a few days of lunch (NOKIA does it, after approx 30 days one can expect a 15-20% drop in street price)?
If so then how many days it takes for?

Suppose WAVE 8530 is launched at 19K..then after how many days I can expect it to be at say 17K? Or can I expect so at all?

Everything's fine... But text message... I don't know when will samsung fix this 'cannot move SMSes to memory card' thing. Pity that such a big company like samsung is still cannot overcome this issue for years.

Samsung has released many wave in India like Wave725 wave723 wave 733 etc. to cash on the success of Original wave and to fool customers. These pieces are nowhere near the original One. Instead of this they should relaunch the original wave with some improvements, and fix the price at Rs.16-17K.

                                Hi Waver
Why you are expecting 18-19K for a downgraded product. Even original wave S8500 was and is available around 17k . 0.4 inch bigger lcd screen with same resolution does,nt make any difference. Remember this is a full screen multimedia phone, where screen quality and battery life are two divine part and unfortunately samsung destroyed both. now samsung is trying to cash the popularity of original wave S8500 and surely they will be able to trap many fools. Hey samsung, you are a great company so please don,t downgrade your products, come with wave-111 having 4 inch super AMOLED and keep all your rivals far away. By stopping the production of original wave samsung gave golden opportunities to other manufacturers specially nokia, because nokia C-7 with AMOLED and good battery life and good matelic design will destroy Wave-11

I just checked this phone on a shop in amritsar, price 12900, gr8 phone, but i think this dosn't have video calling feature, what actaully i asked the shop keeper, she replies it has 3g but only for data access...... Otherwise beautifyl phone, hardware too good, actaully on that day i was about to buy a phone with 3g, wifi, camera with flash, so i checked 5800, x6, and wave 2, among all, wave have the best hardware, 1ghz processor, gr8 ram, and the price is 1100 less than x6 and just 200 more than 5800, features are more than x6, only one thing laks, video calling..... and only 2gb memory card from company...... So the price is 12900, dont pay more than this.......

                                      Dear Friends,
I know many of u are awaiting the relaunch of the original samsung wave. But u know unfortunately i have to tell u this that according to the samsung call center personnel that they have been told that samsung has discontinued the manufacturing of the original wave due to the limitation in manufacturing AMOLED displays. U may ask me how the hell did i came to know about this. Actually me and my brother were planning to buy the original wave we kept searching almost all the shops that we know in mumbai but unfortunately we got the same feedback from everywhere that they are out of stock and so my brother made a call at the samsung call center just to know the current status of the original wave but the reply that he got from them is extremely disappointing for all of us. Let's hope for the best in the future.
