Samsung sells 90 million smartphones and 8 million tablets in 4Q 2016

Yordan, 25 January 2017

Yesterday we told you about Samsung’s financial results for 2016 and it’s growth despite the fiasco that was Galaxy Note7 smart phone. A day later we have an estimated number of devices sold by the Korean company in 2016 - 90 million smartphones and 8 million tablets.

The financial report mentioned KRW 23.61 trillion ($18.8 billion) sales revenue for the IT & Mobile Communications and KRW 2.50 trillion ($2 billion) operational profit. The amount of sold devices though is an estimate based on that by the Korean news agency The Investor as Samsung never actually reveals numbers of devices sold.

The number clearly shows that despite the fuss it generated the Note7 fiasco was a small hiccup and not actual trouble for the sales department.
