Samsung shows off the AI-powered note-taking and translation features of Galaxy phones
Samsung has been at the forefront of AI applications on mobile with the launch of Galaxy AI. Now just about every smartphone company is announcing their own AI suites, but owners of recent Galaxy S and Z devices can already put them to work.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 are well-suited for AI tasks, especially the Fold with its S Pen support.
The Sketch to Image tool allows you to draw a rough sketch (including tracing over an existing image), picking a style and having a full-color artwork generated in a matter of seconds.
Circle to Search (powered by Google) is available on all Galaxy AI devices. You can use it for anything from researching travel destinations seen in photos to helping you with your math homework.
The large display and S Pen support make the Galaxy Z Fold6 a great note-taking tool, but you can also just let AI do the work while you focus on the presentation or discussion. The Notes app has a Note Assist feature that will record and transcribe audio (separating the discussion by speaker) and will also create a summary of everything that was said.
Love them or hate them, PDFs are the standard way to send and receive digital documents. What happens if you get a document in a foreign language? Well, the Notes app can help you with that – the PDF Overlay Translation feature will translate the whole document, so you won’t have to copy and paste chunks of text into a separate translation app.
A few days ago, Samsung released One UI 6.1.1 for the Galaxy S23 series, the Z Flip5 and Z Fold5, bringing new Galaxy AI features to the 2023 flagships. The 2022 flagships are getting it too, even mid-rangers like the Galaxy A55 and A35 will receive AI with the v6.1.1 update. Samsung's goal is to have Galaxy AI running on 200 million devices by the end of this year.
