Samsung starts distributing Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition to athletes

Samsung recently introduced the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition at its Unpacked event. This custom smartphone will be gifted to all athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

The company announced that it had just started distributing units to nearly 17,000 participating athletes, who will be able to experience the new Flip foldable even before the device's official market launch.

The Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition comes in a custom-made Yellow color with the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics logo engraved on the back panel. Every device has an eSIM pre-installed with 100 GB 5G data, courtesy of Orange.

Samsung Wallet is loaded with a complimentary public transport access card, and there are also some Olympics apps pre-loaded “to help the athletes open up new experiences and connect with new people while they are in Paris”, the company said in a press release.

Samsung has been a major partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since Nagano 1998 and has been launching customized Galaxy phones since Sochi 2014.

The Flip6 is the second foldable to receive Olympic treatment after the special Winter Dream White variant of the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, launched for Beijing 2022.
