Ok this is an update from my last post a few weeks ago. i went to samsung to get my paint peeling fixed. they make you fill out a form and on the form there are 2 major things you should be aware of:
1) Check for Defects. - a samsung technician will look for any defects on the phone and repair it BEFORE repairing the peeling paint. if your phone has had any physical/water damage then they will fix that damage before doing the paint. if they do find any defects, it will cost you $50 for the quote and the repairs will cost extra. they wont just fix the peeling paint alone.
2) Memory erase - it's samsung policy to have all the phones brought in under warranty to have their firmware (the software that runs the phone) upgraded to the newest/latest versions. This will result in a loss of everything on the phone, eg games, photos, contacts, profiles, internet settings, etc. in otherwords the phones will be reverted back to its original factory settings.
unfortunately i washed my phone (IT STILL WORKS!! LOLZ) so it'll cost me quite a bit to fix my LCD's water streak marks (they're barely noticeable). I dunno what else they might detect/replace so i wont be repairing mine. The peeling paint will always paint me to look at...but *sighs* it's my fault i guess.
So for everyone out there with peeling paint. GO GET YOUR U700s REPAIRED!!!

But at 176x144 i don`t think u should even bother with video . Pictures come out pretty good . The phone is solid buid but i don`t think it would survive such harsh treatment as the one u`ve applied to your D600 .

I'm thinking of buying this phone - desite the comments on peeling and battery time. however- is true that only 4 seconds of video can be recorded? I had an amazing D600 which recorded video for minutes- ( i dropped quite drastically, my son also put it in the toilet, and it survived). Does this nice phone not record or what?? please answer!!

Hi xtian!
My current sw version is U700DZHB1. The phone has no settings to increase the camcorder capture time but I do already have the feature to use .mp3 as message alert tone. Would I still have to upgrade the firmware just as you did to U708ZHGG3? Is there a rollback process for this?

by the way im here in philippines and u r in HK, thats why u used ZH stands for hongkong...my question is,is it ok if i used ZH if im here in the philippines...i think it should be DX for our country...

Hi Guys,
Upgrade your firmware to u708 (asian verison) and get the following benefits
1. Able to use a MP3 (NOT MIDI) song as a message tone!! that's right!
2. Battery life is longer
Phone is Awesome now

Tutorial, multloader and firmware is included, very easy to use takes about 10min to flash.
I use the U708ZHGG3 for my u700 becuase of the better battery life and ablility to use mp3 songs as my message tone.
For those people na nagrereklamo bout the mp3 message alert..here's the answer!
Reminder: the interface will be a bit new, i.e the fonts will be a little bit bigger,for those people who are like me and cannot read any asian at all must follow these steps after you have successfully placed the new firmware on your phone.
the center button is now the menu button, it is no longer the left top touch button
so go to the menu, then to settings which is the bottom right or the 12th icon on the menu screen
the 4th down in settings is PHONE SETTINGS and the first of those is language lol
english is the second language down, and after you do this you will now be able to navigate through yourself :)
one thing i found tho, the first time you want to send a text message it will be very weird for you lol
what you need to do is every time you go to send a message you have to click the middle button so you can write and click it again so you can send
but the first time it won't want to write in english, but this can easily be fixed, the top right touch button just needs to be clicked and moved down to either ABC or T9Abc... ect whichever one you think you will need

Hi everyone, I just got this phone (U700)just now and would like to ask who among here knows how to remove the sound while navigating, sound weird though. Also I have some trouble connecting to the internet. You guys happen to know how to configure the internet here for me to send and received emails?

goto MENU -> CAMERA then click the right option choose CAMCODER then LEFT OPTION
then arrow keys to the right CHOOSE FOR FULL MEMORY...now u have the full long time capturing u videos...it supports up to 2gig mem...

even thought the phone has inconvenient features, i think this is still one of the most head turning phone and its very sleek .... and jin thanks pla sa adv na set ko na ung phone to accomodate longer video..
