to mute the key tone sounds.. little easier than the previous comment..use the volume control on the side of the ph.. click it down a couple times until its muted...simple.

The phone is good generally, totally love it but I think i got the same problem as alyn..
my phone just lights up every minute EVEN when i've configured the backlight on settings to like 10 minutes =/ hmmm.
I've done as suggested to turn the " end all " button but it doesnt help. =/

I really don't post opinions on phones but I see people in here having problems with the Soul's Volume. Firstly, the call quality is superb on my phone, don't know if its just a selected few, (I got a Soul Grey phone and the right soft key is a small globe for the internet) my speaker phone also sounds pretty good in comparison to my last phone (SE W910i). The ring tones could be a little louder but that’s nothing adobe audition can't fix. :-) Samsung did an excellent job with this phone...heck even the vibration for calls/messages can be changed to a users liking and it actually fades in and out with varying strength, never felt nothing like it. The build quality is from a next world; humans don't build phones that feel this good, look this nice or are this robust. Very meticulous design. Truly a work of art. It’s in the top 3 for non smart phones in every department...camera, organizer, size, looks, music player etc and I think that was Samsung's intention. It’s the best non smart phone overall on the market because it does everything well and it doesn't freeze and shut off like my W910 did. Excellent job Samsung. Truly a beaut'. I am unaware of the problems ppl are having with the back cover also, because I had no problems that was actually the first thing I tested. Ya’ll need to eat some spinach if that’s the case.

To mute the keypad sounds...you will need to go to settings>phone profiles>choose profile u wish to adjust>click options then edit>press right twice to go to phone sounds>then scroll down to "phone sound volume" and adjust to your liking :-)

Overall I think this is a really slick phone - camera quality is fab. Getting the back off for the 1st time needs a slight bit of effort but certainly not worth mentioning as a con. Really lovely looking phone and very light and slim. Have had no problems with volume levels at all yet. Can anyone tell me how to mute the key pad tones as that starting to become annoying?? One thing I would say though - the manual that comes with it is pathetic.

alyn104, 02 Jun 2008it still lights up every one minute. do you know what's wrong?not too sure why it lights up every minute (when idle i presumed) as you've described. Probably it's worth checking if you've background application(s) running by pressing the "switch" button (above keypad number 3) and then select "end all"...

Don't know y its lighting up every minute but my light settings are backlight time 3 minutes, dim 30 seconds. keypad light set at "use at custom time". mine don't light up that way when not being used, hope this helps.

aw_, 31 May 2008Phone is light and very sleek. I love how you can customize... moreyes i think the front camera is just for video calls... just a shame that it cannot be used as a secondary camera (for pictures and videoshooting).
Hope the next firmware upgrade can change that.

1. LCD brightness -> Level 2 (bright enough +save energy :)
2. backlight time -> On = 30secs, Dim = 5secs
3. Keypad light -> use at custom time (after 20:00, until 07:00)

hm.. aftr reading through this seems to be an alright phone... the volume problem may come in a lil trouble.. but i think its overall alright... I just hope the music player and stuff do not lag as much as my U600..

you only need to open the slider if u want to use the camera or text messaging
