SOLUTION TO LOW VOLUME - SAMSUNG U900 SOUL
(Can't remember which website I got this from - apologies to original poster.)
This will solve all your problems re. low mp3, call and ringtone volumes. It worked like a dream on my phone, and I'm now blown away by the sound quality - but any errors or problems are your own fault (should be ok as long as you don't do anything dumb).
========== QUOTE =============
Follow the steps below to increase your U700 speaker. I will not be liable for any damages to your phone and changing the default settings may void your warranty.
1) Type *#0002*28346#
2) It will bring up a menu:
[1] Load Params
[2] Dump Params
[3] Call Config
3) Press Back, and it will bring up another longer menu
4) Key in 3 to bring up SPK Config Menu
5) Then key in 4 to bring up AV-QTune(MP3) menu
6) Key in 1 to bring up SPK MP3 Vol. menu
7) Key in 6 to change the max. volume
8) Input 40 and press OK, it will change to 4.0db default max. volume is -3db. I wouldn't recommend higher than 6.0db because the sound will distort, anything lower will be fine.
9) Once done, press cancel to close the service menu and try to play a mp3 with max. volume. This volume apply for your MP3 Ringtones and Message tones.
Note: If you restart your phone, your settings will be changed to default.

Hi,
The ringtone isn’t that low at all, you can adjust the volume of the tone anyway in the setting menu. If it’s still not loud enough for you then just increase the volumes of your mp3’s before downloading them to the phone.
I’ve had this phone for a couple of weeks now and I’ve been messing about on it non stop. It’s a very nice phone, the features all work well on it and it looks great. It’s quite heavy compared to some of the phones on the market nowadays, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing – shows solid build.
There are a couple of things that you should note though. The speaker can be a bit low in volume when you’re talking to people. However, I found that this was only for certain calls and NOT for all calls. The phones battery life does not seems that good either unfortunately. I tested in to see how long it would last on standby with minimal usage (well, I say minimal but I did end up texting and messing with it a bit!) and it lasted approximately 3 days. That’s not atrocious but there are other phones which last longer. The predictive text is very good on the whole, however I have found that sometimes I ended up switching to number mode and it would end up saving the number over the word (try typing ‘you’ and it would show ‘968’). All you need to do is press the’+/0’ button to move to the next word to change it but it can get slightly annoying at times.
To be honest, there’s not really much else I can fault it for. It’s a good phone and the ‘Magic Touch’ pad works a dream. The phone comes with 100MB of internal memory (I think…) but you can insert an MicroSD card to increase the memory.
If you need any more help just let me know.

SGH-U900 is excellent with great features. 5MP pictures are better than previous model.
Personalized GUI Theme. Touch Navigation Panel and much more… But, poor audio volume on call. This has been noticed by Samsung, will be fixed.

Any websites that i can download free themes, ringtones, etc?
I have one problem, the telephone number doesnt appear even the the caller is already in my phonebook. the message always "unknown". Anybody encountered this problem or it has something to do with my network operator?
The only drawback of this phone is the ringing/speaker volume. Its quite not loud enough compare to others but in overall aspects...this phone is great that money can buy. Dont hesitate to buy, im sure it will be one of your great collection

I've had this phone for a week and I absolutely love it. Was bit sceptical as never had a samsung before. Battery lasts ages if you turn of the vibrating touch panel. Ring tones loud enough if you change the volume!

Can u people do everybody a big favour.
"INDICATE THE COUNTRY YOU ARE FROM"
It helps to give a more precise answer and help. Phone are not all produce at the same factory, so being geograhic does help isolate and indicate where the problem areas are.
So please do so and state yr country.

I have this samsung for a week and it has no problem.
First of all you cannot compare the u900 with lg because lg su__s.
Second of all this phone`s menu is very simple so those of you who are saying that they are having problems with the menu su_k or this is your firs phone :))i have had all the great phones and none of them compare with u900.
for those of you that don`t know haw to use a phone there is a phone manual.......
if you don`t hear the phone when it rings( although many of us can hear it ) you know you can select frum menu melody+vibrate vibrate means that when your phone is ringing you can feel it.....wtf...
my sugestion is that if you don`t know how to use a new phone buy yourself a nokia 1100 and try using that is easier.
you can do whatever you want with this phone is great....
kisses stefy

I sold one to my fiancee a few days ago, and she loves it, it is a great handset all round, the volume seems fine to me and for once you can set mp3's as a message tone aswell as a ring tone, the phone feels very nice and build quality seems excellent, early days yet but so far so good

Hi - Does anybody know how to permanently disable the predictive txt function. As when opening "write txt" it automatically assumes you want to start with predictive txt and does not save the last choice (as the D900 did)
Thanks Neil
