The phone does connect to a pc via 1.1 USB cable. That cable should be included in the retail package. If not, you may need to purchase either a generic 1.1 USB cable or one sold by Samsung specifically for their cell units.

Must be in same price rate of Motorola C650, LG MG185 and Siemens C65. Samsung X530 will surely win.

I bought this phone a week ago for $149 with Optus Prepaid in Australia and I must say that You get what you paid for. This phone is okay with calling and texting, but the camera quality isn't that great.

OK. I've got the irda working to some degree. Basically there is SW compatibility problem with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and the SW on the Samsung phones. The solution is to uninstall the Service Pack from Windows (which may expose your system to security issues) or install a program such as IrCOMM from here http://www.ircomm2k.de/download.html#LatestVersion. This will enable an available COM port to function as an IR port so you don't use the built in IR port. After installing this, I ran Samsung PC Studio and configured it to use the new COM port. I was able to download the phone's address book, SMS messages, etc. to the PC and update them. However in the File Manager I was only able to download photos from the phone to my PC, but could not upload and sounds or images from the PC to the phone - not even the photo I had successfully downloaded from the phone - and the link eventually timed out.

Regarding infrared on this phone, I have managed to send and receive a contact (vCard) to and from another phone. However I have not been able to send sounds or pictures to this phone. My PC recognises it but cannot communicate with it even using the Samsung PC Studio SW. I have contacted Samsung by phone and email and will wait to see if they have an answer. If not, I will try to return it and get a different phone. In Australia it sells for $149 prepaid with Optus. Much better value is the Sagem myX6-2 which now sells for $129 prepaid with Virgin and does everything.
