Folks, I think we need to be careful because this phone may have different specs in different markets. I can assure you that the model available in Australia does NOT have mp3 player / ringtones, and only supports 16-channel polyphonic sounds. That is the only type of sound file that can be transferred to the phone. See the specs on the Samsung AU site http://www.samsung.com/au/products/mobilephones/mobilephones/sgh_x530s.asp?page=Specifications no mention of mp3. Other Samsung sites also do not mention mp3 but sites like GSM Arena do, and that is probably because prelease reports mentioned mp3 and bluetooth, neither of which it has. Samsung says it supports AMR tones but I have been unable to upload these to the phone.

i dont have this phone yet but i think it is the best phone 4 a first time owner like me, its easy to use and is sooo stylish but... there is 1 thing i think could be chainged, the screan it is too small i think u ppl at samsung need to make this phone again but with a much bigger screen and maby video too but still keeping the price around the 150 to 170 mark.

This phone absolutely sucks in every way possible the screen is puny and the words on it pretty much take up the whole screen and the phonebook is to cluttered up and no it doesn't have video for those who are wandering, nor bluetooth. I recommend getting a LG M6100, it's the same price and you get video with a 1.3 mpc for the people who like all those features but if your that kind of person whos just looking for a camera phone that just takes pictures i would recommend it.

How many pictures? There is 1024Kb available for photos in the camera memory. Photos are about 3K to 6K depending on the zoom you select, so you could store up to 300 photos. There is another 600Kb available for other images and sounds.

the Samsung X-530 is a simple stylish phone which gives you the look of an expensive phone, it has a affordable price without all those stupid features that you probably wouldn't use anyway, because phones these days are barely phones at all so if you want a simple and easy 2 use phone i recommend this one

                              To answer your questions:

                              Does it have bluetooth?
Some pre-release reports claimed it had bluetooth, but it only has infrared.

What sort of memory does it boast?
Phone book will hold 1000 entries but you have only 600K to store sounds and images, and 512K to store games.

Can it or can it not actually send and receive picture messages?
Yes it can send and receive images but they must be less than 50K in size.

Does it have a video camera? Can it send and receive videos?
No, it has no video camera and cannot play videos or receive them.

Does it have a built in stop watch/ split timer?
No, only calculator, alarm, currency converter, To do list, but you should be able to find a Java application that has a stop watch function.

                                  Hey,
I've done a bit of research on this fone and different sites are telling me different things.

For example some sites claim that it has bluetooth, most say it doesn't. Whats the deal there?

What sort of memory does it boast? It says that it hold something like 1000 phonebook entries but what can it handle in the way of gigabites?

Can it or can it not actually send and receive picture messages? Its meant to but a few people have said they cant get it to work.

Does it have a video camera? Can it send and receive videos?

Ok, strange question but does it have a built in stop watch/ split timer? I have race horses and my current fone doesn't have this feature and its killing me.

Plz reply and thankyou so much if you do :D

OK. Had my phone at the Samsung Service Centre for 2 weeks investigating infrared. They showed me it working on their PC and we transferred files both ways, but I cannot get it working on my IBM Thinkpad (apart from using ircomm as previously noted, but the transfer times out when uploading to phone). Somebody asked about videos sent via MMS to the phone..these cannot be viewed on the X530 as there is no video player installed. Pictures can be received OK if they are smaller than 50K.
