Very basic features.Looks good, and has big buttons for large fingers. Sound is appalling, cannot download ringtones from Samsung funclub, says not supported. Infra red does not connect to the pc suite. Screen reolution is poor. Cannot get it to go loud. But worse of all is the battery life only 48hrs standby! Samsung should be able to do better than this. It is cheap in Oz $149 prepaid. Cant wait for it to break so i get anew phone. Very disapointed.

SPEAKERPHONE? This is only available during a call. When connected, you can push the centre navigation button and it will ask if you want to use Speaker. Or you can push the left soft key (Select) and choose Speaker or Whisper (this amplifies your voice so that the other person can hear you but not people around you).

steave,wat haends if people who just read wat ya said,but dont undersatnd the technocal words,lick wat a mid wat a SW soz but i dont understand and i dont lik the fone features just the way it looks is kewl thats it.it not ur fault mmk steve

All the recent questions have already been answered in this forum, so people should read the existing posts. But just to set the record straight:
RINGTONES: This phone will ONLY support midi (.mid) 16 tone music and you can find thousands of them free on the web. Just transfer them to the phone from your PC using infrared or a cable and Samsung's PC Studio SW. I have dozens on my X530. You should not need to pay for these.
If you do not have a PC, you MIGHT be able to find sites that will allow you to download sounds directly to the phone however most sites will not recognise the X530 or will say there are no sounds compatible with the X530. The Samsung FunClub is your best bet and the X530 is supported in SOME countries (eg. UK, but not Australia) for direct download using points.
INFRARED: To transfer files to/from PC by infrared, you MUST have infrared on your PC either inbuilt or with a dongle. You MUST use Samsung's PC Studio II SW available for free download from their site. However, some Service Packs of Windows XP will not work properly with this SW even though the PC recognises the phone via infrared. There is a fix available, BUT it only let me transfer photos from phone to PC but not upload sounds or images to the phone.
Infrared between phones only allows transfer of contacts, but between phone and PC you can download photos taken on the phone to the PC (nothing else) and upload sounds (.mid only) and images (.jpg and .gif) no larger than 128x128.

this phone only lets me use my "paid for" tones as ringtones, is it possible to use them as message tones? if so HOW?

The infared is so supid! it just wont work...does anybody kno hoe to make it work?? please, i wanna get my pictures onto my laptop.
Ive herd that the infared only transports contacts info.
