Hello Usman
Is it possible to set an MP3 file as ringtone so that callers listen to when they are calling me, and phone ring different sound? If yes, how?

Thnx Usman..the reason i wanted to format my phone memory was tht it waz showing the 35 mb memory just like the phone offered..but now its shows less than tht..i deleted all the files n the cell shows 24mb memory :s if u add the java memory it still sums up to only 28 mb..help me out yaar!!

i using this phorne for last 6 months. Wondeful phone. Best pricing. Not a complete phone have some shortcoming but still better than all other phones in this category even the category above this.
i am writing this for two problems
1) I tried downloading games using Bluetooth and JAVA using Softick and Javauploader. Problem is in softick it does show that device is connected but when i do #*5737425# phone crashes and shuts down. i need to restart evytime. But while using Samsung PC studio there is no problem. Please help.
2) when i open the pictures folder in the memory card and browse throu it(or any other folder) when i press down button it takes about a second to go down. it is very very slow. my freind has the same mobile but it doesnt happen in his mobile. in his its very fast browsing.
i think my firmware is too old how do i update it.
Please help

The bitrate changing to higher one, cannot increase the mp3 volume....I have also tried secret menu settings to increase the speaker's volume but did not find any difference in speaker's volume.... Try “mp trim 2.10” freeware software to increase the volume of mp3 files upto 40—50 % .... You can download this software from www.mptrim.com
The sound quality of final mp3 files (played on X700 through speakers) are just OK after increasing the volume level to +6dB.... but distortion will be increased if trying to increase dB value....
Also check my previous post on 23 october, 2006 ( to Bhaskar ) about louder mp3 files!

To Khozema:
You can format memory card by using X700 ( open memory card folder and click “Options” .... then Settings.... Format ) but cannot format phone's memory!.... If there is any secret code, then i don't know.... And there is no need for this.... If you want to delete all data from phone's memory, then open each folder and select any file (but do not open it) and click to “Options” .... Delete .... All.... This will delete all files of that folder.... Use this feature for all other folders....

Go to Menu.... Settings.... Security.... Privacy.... Now, you can see all folders like: Messages, Images, Videos, Music, Sounds, Other Files, Memory Card.... Check “ON” to the name of folder that you want to be password protected by select that folder and press “i/ok” center key.... or select “All” option for all folders.... Click “Save” .... Now enter password which is eight digit “00000000” password by default!. You have successfully locked folders of your choice.... My advise is that you must change the default password to any 4 to 8 digit password (which you can easily remember) as soon as possible because every one knows it.... To change the default password, go to Menu.... Settings.... Security....Change Password.... Now, enter default password “00000000”and press “OK” .... then enter new password (of your choice) and press “OK” and again enter this new password to confirm this .... and press “OK” ..... The message will appear that “password changed”....
To unlock the folders, just remove the check from folders ( in privacy menu) and click save.... now you must enter your new password .... if matched, then privacy will be deactivated for that folder....
Note: If you locked “Images” folder then “Photos/ Downloaded Images/ Favourite Images” folders are also locked ....

hai usman...u r doing a great job by helping us.i bought this phone a week ago.it's really good especially the camera.but i find the mp3 playback sound through speakers too low.i have tried increasing it from 128kbps to 320kbps but that made no use.can u plz tell me how to increase the sound?thankz a lot.sumeshnair_36@redifmail.com

hello all!
can anyone tell me how can I impose passwords at the various folders of my X-700 such as Images, Favourite Images, etc.
what is the way of making such folders, 'password protected' and is there any 'by default passoword' from the manufacturer side?

You cannot check this but you can see the amount of data in KB received in real time when try to open any web page on X700 using Opera Mini 2.0 web browser.....

Samsung Sound Mate speaker is available separately and with D500 also.... It's price is about 4 US Dollars ( ebay price )....

Where can I find the GPRS counter? I have subsribed to Hutch GPRS and the charges are 10paise/10 KB. I would like to know where can I check the amount of data downloaded.

The ringtone of incoming call comes from Speakers, even earphones are plugged-in .... and after call is ended, You have to select Play: Yes or No .... there is no other option!....

Dear Usman, In X700, I dont get ring tone for incoming call on my earphones, when I listen to MP3 Player, or RADIO. Also, after I have answered the call, to continue the music I have to press "play" again for the prompt on the display. This is really bad feature; OR Any other options? CAN ANY ONE HELP PLEASE?
