To Waheed,
It's better that first we discharge the battery (upto very low but not completely to zero) and then recharge as soon as possible. If you cann't get an electric connection then atleast switch off the mobile. It is always better to recharge battery to the fullest and then discharge it to very low battery charge level. This rule generally applies to any rechargeable device. The first days of usage is the most important but it's better if you can always follow this.

To Waheed: By discharge the battery COMPLETELY, I mean that when you see message that "Battery is low" then switch off the mobile and recharge it! ( USMAN )

To Waheed:
Have your X700's battery ACTUALLY lasts for 5 days without charging or you just copied the previous post of “dutchy” on 21 march 2006?..... and after purchasing mobile, discharge it completely.... then recharge it!

To Waheed,
The tips whatever you have told is in general for any rechargeable item be it a mobile or a rechargeable lantern or a rechargeable battery or any rechargeable item. As per my knowledge and experience, any rechargeable battery should be always recharged to the full and discharged almost to nil (but don't discharge to complete nil). By this way you can utilise the battery to the fullest efficiency and it's life will be good. It's something like- a man eating a large meal and then working upto tiredness and this will strengthen the person. Eating too much without much work or eating less and heavy work will make him less healthy. But, unlike the man, the battery can't become more efficient but it will atleast retain it's present efficiency. The most harmful thing for a battery life is prolonged period of complete chargeless state. Never leave even few minutes when the battery is completely charge-less, when the battery is quite low, switch off the mobile until you can recharge.

Tip For All Samsung users,
if you want to increase battery life then follow these steps (only applicable to new purchase mobile).
After purchasing X700, don't charge it, empty it completly then charge completly. First 10 times charge it COMPLETELY and then discharge COMPLETELY by using it (without interim charges): This task is most difficult (Bcoz U want to connect the phone using the USB data cable to transfer files but that will charge the battery so don't do it the first 3 weeks or 10 time charge!!!) but it will seriously strenghten your accu's standby time if you can resist the desire ;)
For first 3-4 weeks use bluetooth to transfer files if available.
I have mine a month now and the battery lasts for about 5 to 6 days with average usage (half an hour playing mp3's, about fifteen minutes calling time and messing around with the organizer/message functions per day). I followed the prescription above and can at least have it 5 days without charging.
Note: May be U can use these tips with any samsung mobile (i have not check any other mobile).

To smartboy:
Yes, there is no way to select your own mp3 files for message tones but if you can find new patches for your X700's firmware, then you can fix some bugs / drawbacks ...... I have read in somewhere that there are patches available for X700.... and it would increase Java World size from 4MB to 8MB..... view images/ videos in full screen mode.... add any mp3 file as message tone.... minimize mp3 player....vibration with melody for ringtones.... increase playlist limitation from 50 songs to 100 songs and so on.....
Here you can get some info about patches of X700 for specific firmware:
http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=ru_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fforum.samsungpro.ru%2findex.php%3fs%3d1477b6bd7854cbee266fc1b7671ba725%26showtopic%3d5151
but please do not try this by yourself.... this could damage your mobile permanently....

It seems that you are the senior assistant for this phone here, Please let me know - if you know of course - how to change the ring tone for calender events and for messages because I tried every possible way and it did not worked. I do not like these predefined melodies because they are too short and I always have missed appointments and messages. Is there any secret code or upgrade for this matter?. Thanks.

Hi Usman,
The price you have quoted for 6233 is not 15K in India. It is around 13.5K. For any mobile prices in India (only the popular brands) check this website- www.univercell.in
I don't know whether in pakistan 6233 is costing more than that in India (considering both Indian and Pakistani Rupee values). If the battery can go more than 5 hours in speaker then I will purchase this mobile for sure. Just one drawback, I always wanted a flash camera but for now this is my budget phone and sometime later may be Nokia N73. Thank you Usman for helping me.

To Bhaskar:
I checked the non-stop playback mp3 files through speakers in full volume..... I used the louder high quality
MP3 music files ( 160 or 192 kb/s).... all played from memory card..... with continueous playback using playlist.... and the result is unbelieveable.... It took 5 hours 10 minutes long to empty the battery.... i mean, to display message that “battery is low!”.....
There is a big price difference between X700 ( 9,200 rupees ) and Nokia 6233 ( 15,600 rupees ).... price in pakistani currency..... but if you still want this comparison, then wait few days more.... thanks!

Hello Usman,
I read your previous comments comparing mobiles like X700 and K750, X700 and SLVR L7, etc. It was really good comparison. Can you compare X700 and Nokia 6233. Considering most mobile phones go redundant or out-dated in two years or so. It would be interesting to compare between X700 and 6233.

To Usman- Thank you friend. 3 to 4 hours is very good but something tells me it might be less than that because speakers consume a lot of battery power. However, I will wait for your experiment and a clear opinion on this issue.

To Bhaskar: I mean, from headphones but for videos, I prefer to use speakers and for continueous playback in full volume, I guess for about 3 to 4 hours.... May be more or less... I will give you the exact figure in 1 / 2 days.... (USMAN)
