You have to register and login to www.samsungseriez.com On your left there will be a table listing stuff "Menu Principal" (probably meaning Main Menu. Under that you click on FIRMWARES and then on Firmware Z500. It will give you a list of many different firmwares (from Vodafone to O2 etc.) The one I used (which is totally unbranded) is at the bottom called Z500REX3.1. Its a big file (about 22mb) so I hope you have ADSL or something. Hope you succeed. :-)

Here is a geat website with over 400 FREE java games and programs for the z500 http://www.getjar.com/software/SGH_Z500/ You can browse this on your PC and when you see a game you want, you click on it and it will give you a code you type in when browsing wap.GetJar.com (click on quick download).

I found a way to upload Java apps. & games onto the z500!
Go to http://www.community24.net/ota.php on your PC.You can upload your .jar file there and it will give you a URL that you can type into your phone's browser to download that game! Simple.

Here is a link to where you can find instructions on how to flash your phone. http://www.mobile-review.com/forum2/showthread.php?mode=hybrid&t=34138 I used Z500REX3.1 firmware(22MB) . I downloaded it from www.samsungseriez.com (a spanish website - and you have to register - hectic). Please note that you do this at your OWN RISK! As you will see on the forum posted above, some people messed up their phones by trying this without being clued up 100%! Also you need to write down all your network settings (Vlive, internet, sms, mms) and back up your phone book and ringtones etc. so you can put it in after your phone has been flashed. Please make sure you understand everything before attempting this.(I'm sure your warranty will not cover this! ;-)

Hi there! I have succsesfully flashed my Z500 and it now has unbranded original firmware on. Its great! Its loader, reception and Bleutooth seems better too. It DOESN"T support THEMES though, but the user interface is beautifully done in Blue and its got really cool animations when powering the phone up or down.Even the animations on the small LCD is much prettier! All the Vlive! services still work (setting I manually put in). I don't understand why Vodafone put their crap on it in the first place...we already signed the contract or bought the phone...why advertise on your phone???? Anyway, all and all a GREAT phone.

can any1 plz tell me how can you change themes on this phone?my phone doesnt have vodafone software,has normal samsung software but in setting-display setting i cant find the themes...strange!!!PLZ HELP ME!!!

Had this phone for 6 months now and although it's been great all of a sudden my battery life has no life....... on Vodafone and at the beggining i took it of the 3g network that helped 6 months ago but now all i have to do is send 2 texts and i lose power anyone else having this problem or has mine just died!

indeed the battery life is very short, I'll let it run flat now entirely and hope this will extend the battery life...

Changing themes on 3G phones is a nightmare. The operator (Vodaphone / orange / 3) put their own software on the phones with all the settings already installed so that you can just go ahead and use all the 3g services. The drawback is that your whole phone is branded and you can't change the themes.With Samsung Z500's themes you can only change the 1st screen (showing the time etc), the logon and log-off screens. The menu's and icons are all Vodafone's! I thought of putting on original firmware(already downloaded it), but many people have stuffed up their phones trying to. Any words of advice/encouragement/discouragement?

1)to turn your keypad down/off simply use left side/volume key on home screen
2) T mobile do not sell this fone so any mms settings are not standard, try settings for similiar phone ie samsung e720, make sure you copy the settings from a T mobile fone

For those who are complaining about NOT being able to send MMS's or going online, you should talk to your service provider...you might have to upgrade your sim card from 16bit to 32bit/64bit or maybe one of the settings are wrong. Just call customer care! ;-)

i just got this phone, i have been waiting for my contract to end and was looking forward to getting it. i have had no probs with it, battery or anything of the like. the phone is great and suits my every need and is so small for a 3g handset. highly recommended a++++++++++++

How do you turn 3G off? Why doesnt the MMS messaging work? I have T-Mobile. Text messages work fine. Please help?!?!??!?!

i fixed itttt !! yay if ne1 else as dis prob go on2 d video , den options then video settings- scroll down 2 recording time. and change 2 normal NOT limit for mms ( limit 4 mms means u can onli record for 4 seconds!! :-o) so change 2 normal and u can record a full 60 minites. :D hope this helps someone :D biiiiii xxxx

I just bought this fone nd iz wiked exept d videos onli record 4 4seconds?! how do i fix this??
and also the 3G doesnt work, an answer to the short battery life is to let d battery die completly b4 u charge it. it works.
