Samsung's foldable phone to arrive next year
It was in September last year when Samsung's mobile boss DJ Koh said the company will launch a foldable smartphone sometime in 2018. Sadly, there's been a delay and at the ongoing CES show, Koh revealed that the launch time frame has been pushed to 2019.
He said UX is the biggest obstacle Samsung is facing in commercialization, but assured that Samsung is working aggressively to overcome the problem.
Meanwhile, a new report out of South Korea is offering some details of Samsung's foldable device plans. It says the company is going to develop foldable displays by March, and manufacture panels in September. Mass production of the final product should start in November.
The device is expected to feature a 7.3-inch flexible OLED display, folding which will make it a smartphone, while it would act as a tablet in unfolded form.
