    if the phone is red....with no logo...its a sx833...
u said the fw was a jap...im using a jap fw too...andi dun see orange icons in the menu... and definitely cant turn off the lights while recording...

u only tried one 903sh..u might as well try a few more to confirm the things u said earlier...

plus i didnt say that the phone was urs.... please read properly..

and of course i will always deny that the light cant be turned off while vid recording coz i myself can change the settings of the firmware...it is not possible to do so... actually it is possible but the phone will die soon as the settings of the fw has changed.... even turning off the shutter sound will also affect the fw's life...

sx833 is from japan...but it is remanufactured by the stupid hk people (smartone-vodafone) therefore this phone is made in hongkong/china...

then the fw can be fully unlocked so that other fw such as the jap, euro and taiwan can be installed into the phone...

that's why it's "from" "from" means it was manufactured there

saying "bought" can imply that it was bought but not necessarily made from japan

but I used in my sentence "from" so it must be using a japanese firmware, cause it's from japan, saying from might be mistakenly understood that it was "bought", but majority immediately understands that "from" immediately encompasses the phrase"made from"
and having been made from japan,
by default, would have to be in japanese firmware

you deny the fact that lights can be turned off when video recording yet you accept that something must be wrong, therefore you also considered the fact that what Im saying is right it's just that something must be wrong with the fone's firmware

so my credibility cant be judged as completely false as I claimed that I have gotten my hands on a phone but I didnt say that it was mine so chances are I do not know much so what I stated was what I observed as facts personally

I dont really know if this is the case with other people's units

I just stated what I observed with the 903 that my friend girl was using

I did say that it was from japan but I did not say that it was from japan therefore all japanese 903's should have these functionality as fact

If I was confusing the consumers then I would appreciate you saying that I am so, but instead, you immediately flamed what I posted and regarded me as a liar

and I dont see your point in stating that "I hate to tell you this but..."

when you still posted in the next sentence what is contrary to your that opening remark of yours.

yes and there was no vodafone logo and the main menu had black and orange neon icons

      the phone is color red

if its a jap version, does it have to be from japan??? omg....use ur brain....

i can mix euro and jap together....where does that come from? they can be mixed but the phone will die easily....hahahaha

          RE:pinoy fan

its not almost...not even near at all...

the specs might not be true..... i had been using 903sh since its out so i know a lot of stuff about it...

stuff u voiced out was not 100% true,, u r just confusing other viewers

its impossible to turn the light off when video recording...theres no way it can be done...unless theres something wrong with the fw...... i can adjust the settings of the firmware and turn off the shutter sound but not the lights....it was said that if the lights of the video recording are turned off, there must be a prob...

as u mentioned theres no vodafone logo...what colour was the phone? it is 100% NOT from japan....

            possibly her memory was fuzzy

and I did say "almost" so it wasnt really 2.5 years already

well it's my fault for not even checking on the specifications for the actual date release but I did state what I observed and it wouldnt matter whether you believe me or not as long as I have been able to voice out what I believe was true in the post that I made and that was

the cam sound wasnt hearable in crowded places

and the cam light while video recording can be turned off

and even if it being "almost 2.5 years" isnt true rest assured the unit was probably more than 1.5 years
hence, it wasnt recalled at the time we conversed, the accuracy of the date when it was purchased and used

that's it and it's from japan so I believe it's in japanese firmware

that's my 2 cents I was merely relaying the points that I have observed

and on a side note: the lights were working as I was able to take a picture of myself with the lights on

ei if thats the only basis of me being a liar then I cant force you to believe me

              anyway

the girl who had the fone told me that dunno if she was lying though

but I myself inspected the features of the fone and I swear that the light was turned off while I was video recording

well..dunno how long Ill be able to touch that fone again coz the person who owns the unit left for the province but one of these days Ill record it on video to prove it

Thank you for your advice! I took the phone back to the store already, and they're going to give me a full refund instead. Looks like they weren't able to flash it with the Chinese or English firmware! Still looking to find another RELIABLE Sharp 903 though...

hmm...it seems that another person who got this "virus"......
according to my past experience, if ur phone keeps on restarting....u cant do anything about it...even if u flash it, in 5-6 hrs (the time may vary), it will start restarting.....am i correct?
the only way is to sell it...and of course NOT selling ur phone which keeps restarting...

u gotta flash it first so that it doesnt keep on restarting.... after flashing it, sell it asap before it does....

thats my only advice to u and ur phone...

I just got a sharp 903 branded with the vodafone (second hand), and it's presenting with the "restarting" problem. I tried to have the phone "reflashed" or whatever the term is, and it just doesn't seem to work. Without the SIM card, it will turn on, but with the SIM card, it just keeps saying, "please wait" and "initializing", and keeps restarting. Is there something wrong with the hardware of the phone or is it the firmware's problem?

                          RE: pinoy fan

i dun want to say this but u r a big liar...

first of all, the 903sh was out in July-Sept of 2005, and it is now 2007 April...which means its only out for NOT FOR TWO YEARS ONLY... how could the "903sh u tested" was 2.5 years old??????

secondly, the light in the vid cannot be turned off.....unless someone cut the wire of the light....haha

thirdly, if there is no vodafone logo on the phone, it means its a SX833 rather than a 903sh...only the firmware was changed

if the 903sh u tested was as true as u said it was, please take a clear video of it showing the stuff u mentioned (light off when vid recording) and show it all to us...

                          if u cant do it,
                          buzz off liar...

the sharp 903 that I was able to get unto was

2.5 years old almost, sooo contrary to what sir said that 903's lifetime was only 1 and a half year heheheh

it seems that that statement was not true at all hehehehe

today I have been able to grasp in my hands and finally test a sharp 903

                                it had a japanese firmware

                                things I noticed...

camera sound isnt as annoying as those sony ericcson and nokia fones

it's quite "unhearable" in crowds and it's almost at level 1 in terms of sound cant hear anything at all hehehe nice one heheheh

when recording videos sound cant be heard in a not so crowdy place and while video recording you can turn off the light heheh

                                horay for me heheheh

it seems the one I was able to hold didnt have the voda logo...hmm strang it also had a dark theme similar to the w900 theme

wow keypad is glossy and nice to hold heheheheh

Oh and almost forget - the speakers were very weak, so even ringtones hard to hear - it was also impossible to use yr mp3s as ringtones.

I remember my 903 with mixed fondness.
                                      The good points:

Lovely classy design and chassis; quality key-pad; great screen; terrific camera (it took 2 yrs for SE & Nokia to catch up w the K800 and N73 respectively, yet neither has optical zoom that the Sharp has!); video recording thats easily Better than the K800 and N73.

                                      The not-so-great points:

Terrible weak reception - 3g reception could drop at any time, and often the phone would simply lose reception altogether for
                                      hour(s) - at first I thought it was a fault w my phone, but had it replaced Twice and the same thing happened;
Poor battery life - fine on standby, but use any functions and it would need recharging that evening - the mp3 player would drain the battery completely within 3 or 4 hours; camera performance drops to vga quality in lower light conditions, w excessive noise.

I did enjoy using this phone, and still am amazed at quality photos taken with it, but the deal-breaker was the extremely poor reception in London (funnily enough this was less of an issue when in the far east) - thank you vodafone.
