    @ZGMF-X322A

    I'm not arguing that the phone won't appear on the gray/black market in HK. I'm sure it will.

    The CeBIT stand in Hanover made it clear "Japan Only."
    The FCC apparently did not approve a European Version for this phone, and no announcements by Vodafone Europe/ SmarTone hint that it won't be released outside of Japan (as many other models).

    Apparently Vodafone KK also was bought out by another Japanese Company (SOFTBANK CORP). This could mean the end of Japanese series for Europe & the rest of the world.
    We are not taking into account "gray/black" imports.

    Phones ONLY officially available in Japan by SHARP (GSM compatible or single mode WCDMA):
    - V904 (Felica)
    - V905
    - V804
    - V802
    - V801
    - V703f (Felica)

    Now you tell me why these handsets do not appear on the Vodafone EU, Smartone or Vodafone Pacific market.

    And I know, the 703SH is available in HK & UK, but not the 703SHf (Felica).

    This is the difference, Vodafone has not rolled out MobileTV & Felica in most countries outside of Japan and won't launch handsets that are made for such networks.

      RE:skater42

      Im pretty sure that 904SH will be out in HK in no time since HK's telecom, smartone-vodafone is one of the retailer of SHARP phones. there is a piece of news saying that 904SH is going to be out in April...but they didnt mention where, but it should be in japan. even tho it will be out in japan, there is a company in hk who will try their best to unlock the phone with high piority. just to let u know

          @ZGMF-X322A

          904T is TOSHIBA, not SHARP.

          SHARP 904 will not be released outside of Japan.

              @ZGMF-X322A

              Well, the major difference is the VGA screen:

              That's 4x the resolution of the 903SH, 640 x 480 pixels. That's smooth...

              FeliCA and biometric locking etc. That's a whole heap of features that I would appreciate...if I'd live in Japan.

              But the 903SH is still top-class for the Western World.

                  Hmm... what can i say?? its kinda the same as the 903sh.... only it has fewer stuff in it, a bit bigger internal memory and a different look...but the back looks awkward... http://www.vodafone.jp/japanese/products/model_3G/v904sh/index.html and actually it has another competitor, the 904Toshiba... similar features and the outlook is kinda better... http://www.vodafone.jp/japanese/products/model_3G/v904t/index.html

                    @ Keita,

                    OH YEAH! Japanese phones are definatelly special to me :)

                    Not because they are "cool" and a "gimmick", but because they are THE combination of multimedia. In a few years mobiles will improve the way we:

                    - Read, watch and distribute news
                    - play games
                    - share & distribute music
                    - purchase online
                    - and most of all...communicate with friends, family & businesses

                    oh yeah, the future is exciting!

                        RELEASE 904 PART 2
                        ==================

                        Other sources state that no FCC approval has been granted for Europe, only Japan.

                        The stand at CeBIT in Hanover explicitly mentioned "Japan Only" for this handset.

                        Sorry folks, I hate being negative, but it doesn't look good.

                          RELEASE 904SH
                          =============

                          Official Release in Japan is April.

                          EUROPE & ASIA PACIFIC

                          Highly doubtful whether they will release the 904SH at all. Due to FeliCa & other functions it is my opinion that the 904SH will not be release here this year. I could be wrong, but there have been no announcements of FeliCa or GPS systems for Vodafone AU, and European Vodafone networks also do not offer FeliCa at this stage.
                          Vodafone would not release a "half-finished" product for a Market that cannot utilize its functions.

                            I LOVE the look of this phone!!!!
                            When the 903 came out I was a bit disappointed as it didn't have the external mono display the 902 had, but its great to see that Sharp have chosen to add this again!!!
                            I can't wait until it comes out, anyone know when it does????

                              Built-in Handsfree
                              ==================

                              Yes, like the 802, 902 and 903 3G etc, this model has got handsfree speakerphone functionality.
                              All 3G handsets utilize it because of the Video-Call function, which needs to be accessible even without a head-set.

                              Makes sense?

                                  905SH NOT AVAILABLE IN EUROPE
                                  =============================

                                  As per this article it seems that the new 905SH will not be operational in Europe. According to the document it is single-mode WCDMA, no single-mode phones (like NEC 802, 703) have ever been introduced to Europe as they would only funciton partially on European Networks. The majority of Europe still uses GSM.

                                    The Sharp 905 has been announced!!! However, the screen has much lower resolution (240x400 as opposed to VGA) and also a lower resolution camera (2mp opposed to 903 and 904's 3.2mp) but it supports TV signals... fair trade? you decide:

                                        According to the reply from a fellow member, this phone is designed for Japanese market as well as some asian markets. The phone makers do not require to make "good" phones but good camera and good display. This is the easiest thing to attract people to replace their cell phones. Therefore this phone might not fit someone who wants a decent and reliable phone.
