Sharp shows off the most Droid of Android phones, the SH06D NERV

03 April, 2012

Truly innovative smartphones are hard to come by these days, but Sharp have invested a lot of effort into creating just that. Enter the result of their hard work, called Sharp SH-06D NERV.

Using the Aquos SH-06D3D as a base, the SH-06D NERV is inspired by the Japanese anime show Evangelion and is one of the coolest looking phones out there. However, the customizations aren't only on the outside. Sharp have modified the look of Android 2.3 so heavily that you'd have a hard time telling it's an Android smartphone at all with all the different icons, widgets and wallpapers.

Under the unusually styled exterior resides pretty much the same hardware as in the Aquos SH-06D3D. At the front there's a 4.5-inch 3D MAGI display with an HD resolution, underneath which a 1.2GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM make things tick.

Need to take another look at the phone? Check out this 360-degree spin video.

Unfortunately, Sharp says it'll produce the phone in very limited quantities and for the Japanese market only, so don't get your hopes too high on getting your hands on one.

As I have gathered from reading this it will only be for japan, but what about us fans of neon genesis that would love to our hands on one of these handsets!!! They need to spread the market on these and make them worldwide ;)

This phone was released to promote the upcoming movie, Evangelion 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. It's cool to work for Nerv. That is, until the U.N. forces come to torch everybody in it... At least you can record your untimely demise in HD.
