I have mine in Blue Kiss and it glows in the dark, with a blue backlit screen and orange backlit keypad. Now, that looks groovy in a dark room! Not a colour phone but certainly a colourful one!
Regarding peoples complains that the ringtone is not loud, that simply may be their own error. Siemens' setting goes from low 1 bar to high 4 bar, and then if you go past 4 bar to the "highest" setting at position 5, you'll set the phone to increasing ring! Thus your phones will start off ringing softly. At position 4, my phone is loud enough to hear, even if kept in my bag while riding on a bus, so that's pretty good.
Good points, Siemens menu system, it so customisable, and very, very fast. With the combination of shortcut Menu keys, Speed Dial keys and the left soft Control Key set to My Menu, I virtually have super quick, 2-3 key presses to access any function. And then there is more, as you can add voice commands to access the functions too. (Siemens implementation of voice commands works perfectly everytime, even in relatively noisy environments!) I never have to use the menu system. Furthermore, one key press to lock/unlock the phone, turn off ring tones, voice dial, change profiles, screen calls, hide ID, turn GPRS or illumination on/off to extend battery life... and you'll have to agree that's not so easily done on any Nokias or SEs.
And the text messaging is soooo fast! Hit the menu key 3 time quickly and you're there on the write screen. T9 works brilliantly and switching to multitap for those cool words not in the dictionary is a breeze. I've got to say, that this is one phone that has NO lag in the menu or SMS.
Ok, there is an acceptable lag in searching the phonebook, and that's about it. Other not so cool points include the implementation of Java which is a tad slow too. There is no Cell Information on the Siemens and you'll have to manually set Cell Broadcast to Channel 50. (CB on Siemens just like GPRS seems to chew up power, so I set up speed key to turn them on/off.)
Most importantly, the reception is awesome, dailog both ends is exceptionally clear and loud, dialog never breaks up like on the Nokias or sounds slightly muffled like on the SEs.
Yes it is a low end phone, no address book, but all in all, it is easily the best non-colour screen phone around. If you are after practical cool, and not techno cool, the C55 is hard to beat, there is no competition. And look, it's lighter that the C62, has longer battery life, and has a very useful greetings list. And look no Voice dial on C62!
The C55s are getting pretty scarce too, and while they are cheap now, get one before they become unavailable. For what the phone was designed to do, it does so pretty close to perfection!

khurram: MIDI and IMA ADPCM compressed WAV (8 kHz, 4 bit). For that WAV format you could use for example CoolEdit.
