Sony confirms the Xperia event on May 17
Yesterday, an announcement of a Sony Xperia event leaked out, today it is official. The “Xperia Special Event 2024” is scheduled for May 17 and will be held at the Terrada Warehouse B&C Hall. It’s a pretty exclusive event, though, only 100 people are invited.
There will be a livestream, of course, to let “Xperia developers introduce the latest features in real life,” as the event description reads (machine translated from Japanese).
Fancy talk aside, the only real question is whether the three models (1, 5 and 10) would be announced at this event or whether there will be stragglers. Sony announced the Xperia 1 V and 10 V on May 11 last year, but the Xperia 5 V came in September.
Well, the 1 and 10 models were announced in May but launched in July and June, respectively. Sony takes its sweet time when it comes to bringing phones to market.
Anyway, leaks suggest that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will ditch the tall 4K display and change to a more standard aspect ratio (6.5” display, 19.5:9), while still avoiding notches and punch holes. However, the camera may be the same as last year. A RAM upgrade is on the horizon for the 1-series phone, but not the 5-series model (which will be stuck on 8GB, if you believe the rumors).

As an Xperia fan, I completely agree. I hope Sonyputs tbeeiPkaystation expertise and makes a sleeper gaming phone similar to the Rog 8 Pro - that's where Sony can shine AND charge an arm & a legend accepted as reasonable.

I have always been a Sony and Xperia fan and i liked the way Sony has always make a difference with there 21:9 aspect ratio and phone designs and it has been so awesome to me, however I'd still prefer the 21:9 aspect ratio on the Xperia 1 vi eve...

So, regarding progress, some features are stuck to the old specs, and some are downgraded..? Ok
