c510 display color is great good quality good resolution i give for display 10/10

I've updated my FW to r****35 at last. Though not the APAC-ANZ version. I use Nordic. English is the only langauge I use anyway.
Too early to say if there's any major improvements over r****34. One thing i've noticed: better sound using the headset, and the 50% brightness level is much more dimmer (which i prefer) than the previous FW version. I'll be posting more...

I got a black c510. Inside the box are the phone, battery, charger, data cable, headset (hpm-60) and user's manual. Here's my mini review.
Very nice design. Compact and slim with just enough weight. Good press feedback on the keypad but cramped. Some people might find the keypad hard to use. The silver framing fades quickly after only more than 2 months of use.
Adequete display size. Two Thumbs up for the display's brightness & contrast. (16m colors would have been better though). Specs mention it's scratch resistant. In my experience, the display scratches fairly easily. I have to put it in a pouch all the time.
Nifty camera lens cover. Very sleek and slides open easily.
Nice & Intuitive User Interface. It's a standard proprietary Sony Ericsson Interface. IMO one of the best. Here's to note though. Browsing through the phone is quite snappy but once I inserted a 4gb card, the phones lags considerably. Which sooner or later is bound to annoy you.
It's got an accelerometer for auto-rotate function on some parts of the interface like the media player and web browser. A big plus. You can use cool flash wallpapers that take advantage of the accelerometer.
Music player is good. Backspeaker is loud enough. Only thing is, the headset that comes with the phone is a piece of crap (if it's hpm-60). It doesn't do any justice to the phone. They could have included a 3.5mm audio jack adapter but they didn't.
Call quality is bad. Tin-can effect. The voice on the other end is muffled.
Very poor 3g signal reception. I've read it somewhere that the firmware update r****35 fixes this problem but so far SEUS states that my r****34 is the latest firmware.
And lastly the camera. This is a Cybershot 3.0 branded phone with Smile Shutter, Face Detection, Cell-ID, Autofocus, and Dual-led flash. The camera performance of this phone is a mixed bag for me. It can take really take nice pics with enough light, proper angle, and very steady hands. But without enough light (think fluorescent lights)and my hands not always that steady, the photos suffers considerably. Blurry dark photos. It's like taking pics in total darkness with the flash not doing any good.
All photos, good or bad suffers the oil-painting effect. I guess it's the effect of too much noise reduction. Plenty of details lost. Some people might not notice or find it negligible but i don't. The bark of a tree appears so smooth, foliage/leaves of trees indistinguishable. It either a blur of green or black.
The skintone of portrait shots is a bit off. Too yellowish and too smooth. The processing of the phone puts too much emphasizes on the color and texture of the skin that it came out so unnatural and the subject looking unhealthy.
The smile shutter works fine though. And the flash, i don't know. It's no good in aiding when taking pics. I use it more as a torchlight anyway.
The battery. It's a matter of personal taste. I kind of got use to charging my phone everyday.
C510 a good phone but I can't say i had the best experiences with this one. You can't find a phone with the same specs at the same price range c510 is in. True. It's your choice. For a guy like me, I guess this is not the phone me.

Have no problems after one month usage,,someone said about heating up after 3g usage,,thats fine all fones do that in 3g even my htc touch po ,,moto v3x they all get hot under 3g ..

i just bought this phone and my experience is pretty good. You get flash themes, a decent 3.2 MP camera with a/f and flash, walkman 3.0 player, clear and loud sound all under Rs.10000. Isn't it a deal........

Took it back and its new one has been fine since. Its a random thing thats happens with alot of Sony Ericsson phones. Latest firmware in the UK ends with 035.
