BTW, have you tried switching to a 2G network? You might get a much better signal reception, and you can save on battery. (That is, if you don't use the videocall and internet).

Hey guys.I have bought dis phone a few days back. Now having a problem with it. When i turn my phone on it displays the sony ericsson logo then goes blank and remains so even a couple of hours. I am unable to use my phone. Will the software updation fix the problem?

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2010Hey mate, i did the same thing, upgraded from a w810i to th... moreDon't use Sony M2 cards. Use Sandisk. I have a 4gb Sony M2 and it gave me plenty of headaches. So i bought an 8-gb Sandisk card and the phone haven't slowed down one bit. Trust me.

With R1HA035 FW version:
Brighter screen (which in turn leads to a shorter battery life).
Poorer flash wallpaper rendering. The animation is not smooth (very jerky movements). I did not know what happened. No problem with the previous FW versions before.
Change some of the format in the Settings.
Added a Sony Ericsson PC Companion. (Installation file is already on the phone memory.
Still erratic 3G signal reception.
Improved overall call reception.
Improved audio performance.
Decreased available phone memory (around 88mb).
No more flickering screen issues.
And........ the camera:
I don't know about you guys, but i can't seem to take very clear/sharp photos anymore. It sure looks nice on the phone's screen but once I view it on my computer, the photos are not good. Though the oil painting effect is gone, the photos were blurry not sharp, compared with the previous FW versions.
Flash is still useless. SE improved it a little bit but still you can't take photos more than a feet away. C510s got dual led flash, and SE did not put it to use which is a shame.

larisa romero, 12 Mar 2010i have a w810i (SE)and i wanna upgrade it to Sony Ericsson ... moreHey mate, i did the same thing, upgraded from a w810i to this handset. It is worth it if you dont use the Walkman series media player in the handset, while the c510 has a 'good' media player, its not as good as a Walkman style (by the way, the speaker is not very good, if you leave it upside down, the sound is almost completly shut off). Also if you have more then 2gbs of memory on the fone it will slow quiet dramaticaly.
Though if it is the camera your after, then yes, because it has a lot better camera quality/ features then the w810i.
After you have concider these features, your choice is made because other then these main advantages/ disadvantages, the fone is far more crisp, slick, stylish, possibably lighter and obviously newer and with all the little things that come with a new and improved handset.

screen reso is better on c510 but thats it. the elm might be a worth while replacment but wait a few months to c if theres any issues.

i bought my unit 2 weeks ago and i was amazed by its superb capabilities. i have been dying to buy this phone ever since it came out on the market. but what kinda downed my expectations was its camera. shots taken from poorly-lit environment were really bad, even if i used its flash. i have to use another option, twilight, to make me able to get better photos. but sadly, in that option, i can't use the flash. in other words, if you are to take a photo of dim-lighted scene, you can't see anything. crap.
