I got this phone a couple days ago and I'm loving it. I've read a lot of bad reviews but all the negatives are yet to be seen. Most of the features I won't use on the phone such as the WiFi and GPS. I bought it solely for the camera. I had the K790a before and this is just a big upgrade. The phone takes marvelous pictures. Well done SE!!!!

After having this handset for a month I'm done with it. The camera is absolutely wonderful for a mobile but after that it's mostly downhill. The build at best feels semi-cheap, the d pad and keys all creak and feel poorly designed. The keypad is horrible, you don't get the same amount of feedback consistently across the board and this leads to many typos. Unlike the review here states, the top row of keys is somewhat difficult to get to, even if you have small fingers like me.

The Web Feeds is incredibly laggy and often just locks up when updating forcing a restart. The slide mechanism has gotten quite loose and I don't even open it all that much, very disappointing.

The worst feature of all that I wanted to work well is the GPS, it's incredibly unreliable and takes on average about 3 minutes longer than the N95 to lock on, if it does at all (it rarely did for me).

The browser doesn't allow full screen mode unless the handset is tilted sideways and the annoying loading bar is almost in the middle of the screen covering too much content up.

I was also disappointed in the wifi implementation. To use it you must have it on and connected before launching an app that will use data. Requiring more battery use, clicks and time. They should have a choice on launch of an app like their well known competitor does. The range was very weak as well. I have a Linksys N router that my macbook pro and N95 have no problems staying connected to out in the backyard or garage but the 905 loses the connection as soon as I step out the door.

I love the SE email client, file manager and the camera but it just has too many annoyances and features that fail to be a keeper for my personal requirements. It's in no way a dud but it just doesn't live up to my demands.

If you're satisfied with what a phone offers as is and doesn't really care about individuality, get a Java phone. Otherwise, grab a Symbian or WinMo phone. It will give you a lot of options to stand out from the rest and make your mobile phone experience better. The simplicity that java phone offers can never match the vast possibilities smartphones have. Therefore this SE C905, a java phone, is not worthy of being called king or superior in mobile phone world.

The Majority of people choose Java becuase its Practical and easy to use and managable.

Hi does anyone have any juice as to how the phone works as a phone... although I have a camera this would be great to own BUT I want a phone that works everywhere, the 8510i apparently loses its signal in rural areas so how good is the C905. Surely thats the point its a phone...ANYONE please ????

worst handset on the market due to the software that it runs. My advice would be to go for a reliable handset like a nokia 6220 instead plus you wont notice the difference in picture quality

Anonymous, 21 Dec 2008helloo, thx for responding to my battery problem, i too... moreThat's probably because the internet settings are not set right. Check your provider settings on the internet or call them and put them in a good data account in the internet settings menu.

asim, 21 Dec 2008Thanks very much 'Mz' for answering my question, but i thin... moreYes Asim, both questions are right.

There is an internet browser on it already, and it uses the accelerometer so that's good. But the standard browser is not sufficient enough for me, it doesn't display all websites saying the page is to big (even 70kb is to much!). That's why I use Opera Mini on all the Java based phones I've had so far. It displays almost every internetpage (except the ones with flash etc.) and it's a fast browser.

Wayfinder is pre-installed but to be honest I've never used it. It's a trial version and from what I read here it costs a lot of data transfer. When I received the phone I downloaded Nav4all and that works fine, the few times I even use the GPS. Else you can also try google maps, but that's turn by turn navigation.. :(

The Innov8 is too big imo as well but I just suggested it to give you some honest options. The biggest disadvantage of the C905 is the build quality I think (perhaps a slideformfactor problem). Furthermore I'm really satisfied with my new gadget after one month using!
