So, update via pc. Install pc companion from phone or download update service from sonyericsson website.
Nokia CA-101 data cable is suitable.

The readings are more accurate, besides usb charging, switch off your phone while charging are enabled only after updating.
Plug the phone to a pc, install from pc companion that is embedded in phone memory pops-up when u do that. Install it and you can update from there.
Re-instal the software if the updater say it already got the latest ver.

hi guys i purchased this phone CEDAR 9 days back and in this 9 days i have charge this phone 4-5 times it never shows 100 percent battery and i have updated it 2 times and 1 time reset all but then also i charge it 4 hrs and i shows 100 percent battery BUT after 10 minutes (without any use) it reachs 93 then after 1 hr it reachs 86 percent any one please help me.......thanks

Cedar is a great value for it's price. A photo and video camera, an MP3 and video player, extendable with the cheapest memory modules, uses bluetooth, has email client, web browser, is easy to use as HSDPA modem for PC-s, and, of course, it's a speakerphone. A load of great functions, and many annoying details for demanding users. It seems like SonyEricsson spent sound resources on making this device not-too-comfortable but still OK. First thing is the standby information, more precisely the lack of it. This is not only SE-disease. You look at your internet-phone which is stuffed by tons of up-to-date information: time, calls, messages, communities, push email, location, etc. and what information you get visually: nothing. You have to touch the phone, press a button to make the screen light up amd get the first speckle of information. A Tamagochi: if you want to keep informed, you have to pet it. An e-ink or a b&w lcd gives the visual information permanently with no power effort, no power expenditure. A "green heart" solution is worth to consider iving information even when you don't turn on the backlit colour tv. Former SE-s (like K600) had translucent LCD which gave some visual information even in standby, this screen is totally black. At least a flashing led should indicate if you have incoming message waiting. The other is the shortcuts. Many useful functions, but you have to click through menus. The selection keys (soft keys) are not customizable. Upper right key is "Web" in standby, "Back" in menus. If you press "Back" one more times than needed, you launch the internet browser and potentially spend your money. How nice and easy would have it been to make the basic function of the soft keys selectable. Also, press and hold of number keys in standby would be great shortcuts to your favorite functions if SE made this selectable. In general, Cedar's user interface is made as simple as possible, they avoided many setting options. This makes it easy to use from one hand (not many options to mess up), but also losing many useful possibilities. An example to this is the online map application. This phone does not have built in GPS receiver, but theoretically you could use an external bluetooth GPS antenna. One tiny software part is missing from the maps client: use of the external GPS, which otherwise can be paired to your bluetooth phone for no use. In summary, for a fairly reasonable amount of money you get a rugged phone rich in functions, bittered by irritating inconveniences which are hard to believe not intentional. If you can get used to, if you are ready to accept it "as is", Cedar may be a great choice for speaking, messaging, listening to radio and mp3, reaching your important emails and browsing internet on a qvga screen. The built-in Facebook and Twitter widgets don't work on my phone, the time widget is useless, but all works fine with the Opera browser, which you can download on the Cedar handset. Don't expect sync to Google calendar.

Battery back up poor. Phone heats up when connected with internet via pc. Or at the time of downloading. Overall the phone is good to use. It supports 3d games wich is awesm

Usually the battery's full capacity shows up after 5th charge.
How much time was spend on calls? 2g or 3g? Not number of them time.
And once the phone reaches 100% charging, it stops itself. The energy saver charger halts until the charge is below 95%.
So till then the battery left keep going down 99,98,97.... Until it starts charging again at 95%.
Also if possible after fully-charging try using the phone without charging until the battery reaches 5% left.
Keep note of the time you last charged and unplugged the phone.
Keep in mind total cal time,
Music time , net time, video time,n.o of mesages incoming and outgoing...
even Under heavy use it should stand atleast 40 hours, if the battery is ok.
Also you dont need to worry about 1%...
the calculation is accurate.Every 1% takes the exact time other did. And not like nokia s40 devices, once it reaches 40% left dead in 1.5 hrs.

hi wreck
at very 1st time i plugged in the phone to charge for around 3.5-4hrs hrs(within 3 hrs it shown charging status=charging 100%) same result for another 1 hr then i thought now it fully charged so i plugged it out. after 1 hr phone started to discharge(charging status=90%) so i plugged in again for charging. after 2 hrs charging status was 99% it never went for 100% then i plugged it again stared to use. on 2nd day after very normal use (i think its around 6-8 calls only, no music ,no entertainment)charge status=75% for each call charging level going down by 2%. without any usage charge level going down by 1% per hr. so i started to charge on 2nd day with charging level 70% after 4 hrs charging level was 99% (again it never goes for 100% while charging status 99% suddenly goes down for 96% within 1hr why happening like this)so i plugged it out phone(96%)but today i started with charging status=96% and i listened 25 songs, calls 25(imcoming,outgoing)these everything happened within 20hrs gap after these 20hr gap rcharging level is jst 20% balance i think this is worst battery life i don't knw what to do so pls pls pls help me anyone about this probe?

ash, 10 May 2011mine antivirus free trial period jst got xpired & i don... moreThis is a java phone .it doesnt got an os. The unknown file format can only be send or deleted, it doesnt work on its own.
So no need of an antivirus.
Antivirus is needed for those phones with OS like bada(samsung), symbian....
