i have this phone, just got it a few days ago and i have no complaints. i have the gold version and i think it looks good but the back cover should have been made in black. this is my first sony ericsson phone so im not some fanatical se fanboy.
overall very nice features but a little on the pricey side. for those wondering the ring is loud, loud enough for me. i have no problems with my speakers. only thing on my phone is the accelerometer tilt is kind of slow to respond but its no big deal. camera is better than i thought, led flash is not the greatest but works. youll need steady hands to get good pics though.
the review says the phone looks boring but i think it looks simple and to the point which is why i got it. i dont want a flashy looking phone just one with good functionality and this phone has been good in that respect so far.
my girlfriend thinks its more of a guys phone than girls, i think its because of the rectangular shape and minimal roundness of the design.
i'd recommend it if you dont mind fools constantly telling you 'you couldve bought this or this'.
my list of cons:
-no 3mm jack!!!
-the charger slot on the phone is friggin huge and the battery charger adapter part has prongs that look like they can easily break, only time will tell if they do.
-a little over priced

Hey guys, do you know if the G705 is EXCLUSIVELY for Orange or what...? ...Cause Sony Ericsson doesn't display it on their website :S

I bought it from timtechs.com -- the price was 420usd and it is a real phone from sony not fake.

mano, 04 Dec 2008 Hai chito can u suggest me exactly whether this mobile sat... morehi mano sorry that i replied u late, the phone is very ok in everything accept for the ringtone volume which is not very louder enough when the phone is a bit far from the owner, the ringtone volume is not a disturbing type so i like it that way, but every other features about it are very ok, so u can go for it. i have it already and i must confess that i am really enjoying having it, it gives me what i want in a phone. SE have set the pace which others will follow, so go ahead and get it

This device is a welcome addition to the company's web generation devices which began with the highly affordable and competent K660i. The price as quoted in this review must remain so or be less. This will help to guarantee it success. Its main alternatives are the Nokia E66 and Samsung i7110 which are more expensive.

WOW, all those nice features and lightning speed internet with 3g on a 2.4 screen with no qwerty keyboard. Surfing the web would be a breeze. A small 2.4 screen is the best for web browsing, and typing is much faster on a numeric keypad than a full qwerty. Smart move SE. You guys really know what's best =)

chito, 30 Nov 2008hello guys just to let everybody know that i just grab the ... more Hai chito can u suggest me exactly whether this mobile satisfy my needs...I always go for sony for all its unbeaten clarity and sound.Some of the custumors has said that it doesnt sounds good and the picture doesnt proves to be much clear.And some boast as it is one of the good model and buy it before going out of stock.
so could u please give a decission to buy this or not...As i like to have a slider model with 3.2mp with flash and good clarity and sound...

ya the photos are not up to par with the phone..it be good if it had autofocus, it would make a big difference. my old phone for 2 years takes even better pictures. my speakers are fine? I think they are loud, I hope I dont run into the problem later though as some of you are having problems with the speaker?
There are no problems with my wi-fi connection, its really strong for me, doesn't disconnect. Scrolling through the pages are ok, I thought it would be slow and the auto rotate doesnt lag either.

The battery life has impressed me. My speaker went quiet a few times acctually but never when it rings for a phone call.
I am very pleased with this phone and i had a 8801 and a sirrocco gold edition.

Hey sorry to who ever cared about my post. Ill answer a few.
The slide is stable (Although nothing beats the nokia 8800 slide becuase its on bearing)
The camera is alright its only 3.2mp but nice features for the night and bright modes.
I havent used my wifi longer than 3hrs so i wouldnt know if it turns off, but i have used it up to an hour and with a good connection it is really smooth.
Yes it does have a video call camera at the front aswell. Nice easy to use system and buttons.

IT IS A SHAME for SE. Actually it is worse it's like Sabotage! They put a nice camera in the C902 or even in the couple yrs old phones, they could do the same in the brand new G705, but they rather ruined it. Who made that decision? Hope he/she is FIRED already!
I had to go with the N95 which looks like a soap bar. Seems like Nokia cannot design a decent phone which doesn't look like a soap, or a brick, and SE's management has a combined IQ of a mushroom.

I got that mobile & its really great, nearly all important features with very nice price
Anyhow, im not satisfied with its photos, & I have a problem with the speaker, & my friend has the same problem also
Anybody has problems with the speaker also?
