i had been using this K300 set and everything seemed great.. but 1 thing i should admit... my set's vedio program didnt work too well... sometimes it is seen that the duration of video was 10 secs and sometime later when i again wanted to vedio something i could record for 15 secs.. i didnt know what really could cure this problem.. so. i dumped it..

Mp3 is an audio format, the way a meolody is compressed digitally.

Polyphony is the number of tones the synthesizer can play at the same time.

MP3 has nothing to do with polyphony i guess.

              Try without installing SW.

If it doesn't work, google up the brand which has done the IR port and see if they have the SW there

The number of polyphonic channels is, you could say, "resolution" of sound. It has nothing to do with loudness. I would for example challende someone to try to hear the difference between 40 and 54 channels - one must be a very good listener for this!

The difference you have heard is clearness and loudness of one song. It might be that the Nokia you refer to has better acoustics (for example better loudspeaker, more cubic mm3, less leakage) as such (I don't know - I don't own Nokia); it might also be that the song you transfered has properties that sound better on the Nokia. All mobile phones are a bit limited in their acoustic performance and therefore different songs can sound quite different when compared between phones.

Hello, therez a question in my mind now . This K300i is 40 channels polyphonic , & Nokia 6600 is 24 channels.
but when I transfered a song in mp3 from my k300i to that nokia 6600, on nokia 6600 the song was clear & v much loud as compared to my mobile, whats the reason for it ?
Although that nokia 6600 is 24 channels & this se k300 is 40 channels.

Hello there. Alright I donno where or how to start my comment on this K300 serie.

Anyway, just bought it and been using it for 1 week. Shall say this is quite a good yet user friendly phone. Because I'm all time Nokia user but now it's consider like a sudden-switch-over to this Ericsson...so u get what I mean eh? ;)

I'm just a mild caller & SMS user so the battery is consider not bad which able to last for 4 1/2 days and I think this is not bad already.

Overall, this phone is suit for those who're not a choosy user nor having a high expectation. It has almost all the important things for a normal mobile user to bring along daily.

Only disadvantages are the screen is abit small. Should have follow the T630's screen size at least then this phone will be almost perfect ! ;) And also there's not bluetooth on this phone which I think it's abit hassle to transfer or receive files from each another.

If you often synchronize your calender - cable

                            jadugar,

K300i is by far the best phone you can buy if you compare price to performance:

The Philips 535 has space for 300 phone nymbers, K300 has space for 500. The Philips 535 has 1,5 Mb space, the K300 has between 10-12 Mb. Standby time up to 230 hours in Philips, up to 300 in K300. Philips has 16 tones polyphony, K300 has 40. Philips has no java support which severely limits the amount of games you can download. Philips does not have video. K300 does. The Philips cannot use mp3 or wav file as call signal, K300 can.

The Motorola C650 has standby time of 200 hours, K300 has 300 hours. Motorola has 2 MB free space, K300 has 10-12. The Motorola has no IR, which means it's more dificult to get pictures/melodies to your PC. Motorola has 24 tones polyphony, K300 has 40. Motorola can only show video not take video; K300 can do both. Motorola has no additional memory for SMS, you can only use SIM-card’s memory, that's it.

                                Meer,
go to any PC store where they can help you regarding IR port for PC - this should not be a problem. It works with several different laptops I have used.

                                reader,
                                1) one cannot transfer sms messages from the phone to the computer
                                2) please read (!) further down on how to transfer files - use mms, IR or cable!

                                John,
You are correct; one can also use amr files as call signals with this phone - when one records sounds with the phone they turn out in amr format!
