battery life - dunno, I kinda eat batteries for breakfast - 2days (gave it to my gf and lasted almost 4, though :) )
signal reception is among the best
get it if u can
though, it has few "freezes" at random times ... maybe my firmware is bad. have to take it to upgrade it

K500 is a feature rich phone.But can someone who has actually used it comment on the actual battery back-up(No. of day/hours) and the network signal reception quality

The k500i is much better than the 6230.
Plus it's only £80 while the 6230 is £175.
If your worried about the memory buy a K700i,
or get a mp3 player and data cable with the £95 you'll save!
Forget bluetooth,it's crap!
Infrared is good for swapping info.
You can also get mp3's onto a K500i by compressing them on a pc and sending them to the phone by email.

Thats about all the differences, i think. It's really down to whether or not memory and bluetooth is an issue.

To put MP3's onto your K500i buy a USB ir-da adapter (you can get a cheap one from www.ebuyer.co.uk or if in america www.ebuyer.com). When you've installed and plugged in the adapter, select 'Turn on IR-DA' on your phone, right click an MP3 on your PC and select 'Send to another computer'. Alternatively you can download the SE File Manager from Sony Ericssons Fun and Download site. Need anymore help? Dunt be affraid to e-mail me!

Hello.I just bought the phone.It's really nice and well built.I like it!The keypad it's a minus because of the size.The shutter sound can be stopped if you put the phone in silent mode.Yo can do a lot of stuff with your pc(syncronize, photos, mp3s) if you download about 218MB of software from SE site.

mine put on silent has no shutter. maybe firmare is all about it.
6230 is much more expensive - but k500 is nicest for its price
buy it!

You CAN'T turn off the shutter sound!
Apart from that it's a excellent phone.
I've had no problems with the battery or being slow.
My mate has just bought a Nokia for £120 and it doesn't come close to the k500i.
You need a telescope to see the pics on his phone.
He hasn't stopped crying yet!

someone said you can turn the shutter sound off when on silent....HOW? i bought this phone a few weeks ago i think it is great except from that shutter sound. and how do you put mp3's onto your phone? email me plz with some answers @ sonyericsson_05@hotmail.com thanx
