i flash my k550i to w610i by the tutorial of akshayy (thinkdigit forum). if you dont follow the instructions. phone may brick. you can watch youtube where many people flash there k550 to w610.

sreedar, 21 Jul 2008hey All k550i users, if u like to flash your mobile to w61... more@seedar Hey never never update your k550i in seus (sony ericson update service) n0wadays because it will replace the old cid52 to cid53 which xs++ cann0t hack the ph0ne that have cid53. People who g0t ph0nes bef0re july 2007 have er0m cid51. Just install the seus and d0nt upgrade your ph0ne to latest firmware which have a cid53. xs++ will w0rk when there is a installed seus program.

hey All k550i users,
if u like to flash your mobile to w610i.
The advantage in flashing is
1.walkman player instead of our music player
2.u will get a "megabass" equlizer setting in it
3.u can use flash themes(.swf files work on ur mobile)
Prob's
1.Cam lense cover have no effect
2.doesnot get cybershot pic
3.The prob no.3 is deferent
(any of ur fone capablity wll loss,
eg:videoplayback prob,java app prob,browsing prob,fm radio etc or it's combination.
U wl knw aftr flashing it)
I flashed my mobile to W610i successfully and i found the above problems.
Finally i re flashed to my orginal k550i
so i have only one word "don't flash ur mobile"
i only changed my cam driver and sound(accoustic's) so that now i got really better pics
even at night indoor etc.also louder sound in loudspeaker also in headset beat a walkman.
TO DO WHAT I DID (FOLLOW THE STEPS)
THIS IS NOT A FLASHING( A SIMPLE FSX OPERATION)
Requirment
1.Handset k550i
2.A good broadband connection
3.cam driver v3.0
4.sound driver(zapf accoustic) Orginal W880i
5.A software XS++
6.Data cable
STEP
1.First download the software xs++ and cam driver also sound driver from net
u can search it on net.
1.Update ur fone(k550i) through Sonyericsson Update service known as seus
Go to sonyericsson.com find ur fone then download ur update file(aprox:36 MB)
2.after instaling it,run the application,then select fone model(k550i) frm list
Very importent
ur fone must be conected acordng to there instrction(do it as per instruction
on the aplication)[eg:conect it holding c buton,reinsetrt batery etc)
if the application says "u r fone is alredy having latest update",stop there
and close the applicaton.
The update process need proper net conection don't do it in a dial up modem,
Durning update, net must be conected it wl download anothr needed files to ur system
(aprox:10mb)in temp foldr don't bothr abt it.so keep ur modem connected in ups.
3.After update run xs++
4.re insert ur fone bateery waitng a 20 sec.
5.click connect on xs++
6.then conect ur fone to data cable using
c button on the fone.
7.Now u can see ur fone model firmware version and all in xs++
8.now click "FSX" and then "start fsx".//waite for some time around 1 min not more
9.now u can see all directories r mapped ok message.
CHANGING ACCOUSTIC (SOUND DRIVER)
1.go to "\ifs\settings\acoustic" folder
u can see there is a lot of files with (.zapf) extention don't delete any one
2.Open the w880i acoustic driver folder(that u downloaded frm net) and select
all zapf files drag and drop on that accoustic folder containing zapf files in xs++
3.waite for some time(don't exeed 1 min)
the uploaded files(u draged to fone) r same name as previous so it wl replace the
old zapf file with new w880i zapf files.fsx hang for sometime,don't wory abt it.
4.After uploading(u wl get uploading file ok message for each files in left side of
fsx)
5.now "click shut down fsx" ,close xs++ then disconsct fone turn on it
THE RESULT OF THIS PROCESS
Louder sound in loud speaker ,louder than our k550i also in headset tooo
just check the difference..
Also u can upload other fone accoustic
eg:W850,w880,k790,sunfire,xaera and more[remember the extension .zapf
our k550i doesont suport .apf files
in the most of the cases w88oi is better match for our k550i.
CHANGING CAMERA DRIVER(V3.0)
1.Same as above but the directory is "\ifs\settings\camera"
2.replace the "camdriver0.dat" with the version 3.0 that u downloaded.
THE RESULT OF THIS PROCESS
Good pic at night too great exlnt quality cybershot pic
Use twilight portrate and brightness to 2.0 for night indoor
if in flurecent turn on it..in effect menu
now our k550i beat a walkman [ohh my god we got a cybershot walkman]

The battery life is very good and you can listen to music for whole day by just a full charge. The sound quality is wonderful, heavy bass, just like an MP3 player.
