although this phone is discontinued i like to Post my opinion . . i used this phone for nearly a year. . the joystick broke up and there was problem with the battery status indicator . . display clarity was stunning (i think today's nokia phone's cannot produce such a high clarity display except for the high end phone's )but sadly do's not have brightness control option. i never thought vga camera could produce sharp picture's but this phone did! the biggest disadvantage was the built 41mb memory

my phone is like that but the problem is joystick and bluetooth! how can bluetooth return?

1- Bad Joystick as no alternatives to it in external buttons.as if your Joystick is damaged you can put the whole phone in the Garbage.
2- No browse for names in the phone book.
3- Too slow.
4- No Full screen in videos files.

kiu, 25 Nov 2008i love this phone bcoz it has the features that i want in a... moreI used once a cable from a colegue of mine, but the speed was 5 KB/s... better buy a cheap bluetooth adapter (~30-40 KB/s)

i love this phone bcoz it has the features that i want in a phone... fm radio, bluetooth, infrared, mp3 and photo call and text... the only problem is the joystick, memory card and message alert tone...
it can also search and browse instantly thru web or internet i love it... my phone is full of personalized themes and ringtones i made myself...
i heard from a friend that there is USB cable adapter 4 this...is it true??? can't wait to have that one if ever...

To all SE owner. Secret message in service menu. At standby mode press > * < < * < *select service info,select model info then press 2,4,6,8 you'll be amaze =D (> right, < left, * asterisk)

Same thing happened to mine, but my battery grew larger and it hardly fitted into the body of the phone but it was replaced in warranty lol =)

Had my K700i since Dec 2005 with never a prob only now the battery doesn't hold charge ie. it says its ok (display) but when ppl call it rings once then dies. Ppl think I'm turning it off when I see who is calling ha ha (not) :)
Been told theres no new batteries now its discontinued, is this true? I'd like to keep using it or rather what a waste, its in mint condition.
Anyway bought a samsung B150 for £5, yeah a fiver, its ok...

I remind every1 I own K700i since feb 2006. Let me try to answer to some questions since my last post.
1. @ Randy

A: You can't scroll because the soft recieves more comandes at one press and doesn't know which one to execute and does nothing. Try testing the keyboard and you'll see what I mean. From active standby screen press right,*,left,left,*,left,* and the hidden menu appears. If it doesn't appear, try again (because the joystick is imprecise and left is not left...)

A: The phone can store max 80 SMS. If that limmit is reached, delete some or save them to your SIM which can store 40 SMS.
*Note: 1 bigger message can be equivalent to more than 1 SMS

A: No usb on K700. There are cabeles which connect the phone to the a USB on the PC, but the transfer rates are ~5KB/s. Try bluetooth adapter for PC instead->30-40KB/s and you can also control PC with phone.

It only has 6 predefined tones to chose from. A pitty you can't put a mp3 as message tone like in K750

No. Supported files: mp3,mp4,3gp,wav(max 16 kHz),mid,amr,jpg,gif,png and jar (Java). Other files types are stored in the "Other" folder

A: Sony Ericsson K700,K500,K300 joysticks aren't very reliable. Unlike the rest of the keys which have their metalic contacts protected with a plastic layer, the joystick doesn't because it's not possible by its design. Mabie not all K700 joysticks fail. If I use my phone heavely, it mallfunctions.

three years with me
i m in love with it it
joystick gave problem once, got it replaced
charger got replaced also
battery is quite good..
it is performing consistently otherwise..
seems it would go another 1-2 yrs
satisfied!!

its the best phone ever!i used it for almost one year and it didn't even gave me a problem.unfortunately, it was snatched.huhu.now i am using nokia 6280 and i am planning to upgrade it to sony ericsson P990i.

All features were great and the camera is in match with any Megapixel camera phone. But the only problem is that the joystick would only last for maybe 9 months to 1 year, then it lost its sensitivity.

i've been using this K700i since 2005 and never hang never error, its the best phone i have ever had, but its too bulky many phone more slim and thin now...but still i recommended you to buy serie K rather serie W, battery last long unless you are using it for music, radio and games though

I have been using this phone for over 4 yrs now since it was first launched (Price at P17500 year 2004) and I still prefer using this over other phones. It has everything you want and need, plus the LCD display is way much better with the other models on the same level. No problem if you wanna browse through the Web too. The size, the specs it offers, and the durability (how many times I accidentally dropped it on the floor?!). Ohers models have come and go with the advent of cellphone fad, but my Sony Ericsson K500i is timeless!
