The battery life on a k700 isnt great when you use the MP3 and radio alot but then as you arent using it in "standby" you cant expect the battery to last that long.

I heard that the battery runs out very fast only with radio and mp3 playing, is it true ?

Hi this is Spiderman speaking.. Does this phone tranfer mp3 via usb port using usb cable? And is the mp3 sound stereo? Approximately how many songs(lets say 3mb each mp3)can this phone store? Also how do u transfer pictures from the phone to the computer? I have no time to read the opinions below so can any one kindly answer my questions? Thanks in advance.. sorry for the inconvenience.

I suggest you guys try E398.With mp3/video
player expandable memory is important.Downloading using usb very fast.don waste your time with upgrading version of SE.

my battery life seems to be very bad. i charged my phone for 8 hours for the first time, but it can only last for a few hours. This is already the third time i charged it. The battery icon shown one sector gone just after 1 hour of useage. Any K700i user experience the same thing??

The K700i is better for sound quality, i believe the t630 uses 32 bit polyphonics where as the k700 uses 40 (dont quote me on that though). And yes the K700 supports true tones (if thats what you mean), you can also record your own sound via the phones mic and set it as a ringtone, its not very loud tho.

i just bought this phone. good phone all round. in fact the camera quality and their screen quality improve! i mean compare it wif t610 n 630. alot of the function have been improved like the loading time for wap and other stuffs. the using of irda to transfer or receive data is faster. one thing that impress me is the mms system. its even much easlier to use now. can say too much but pls go get one and try it out.

Handset attacks and vulnerabilities for your information
The following update addresses the current spate of press reports on mobile phone “virus” attacks. Specifically articles referring to CABIR Symbian / Bluetooth virus.
Background
A “proof of concept” virus has been sent to several virus protection companies. It should be noted that this is not an active attack and has an extremely limited chance of ever propagating through handsets.
CABIR is a virus designed to attack devices using the Symbian operating system, it will therefore have no impact on devices that are not Symbian based. The vast majority of Bluetooth devices do not run on the Symbian platform, however several mobile models from Ericsson, Nokia, etc. do use Symbian.
Attack
CABIR Worm – no serious threat
The CABIR worm is a “proof of concept” virus. This has proved the principle that it is possible to infect a Symbian based Bluetooth device and to, in theory, propagate the attack to other Symbian devices. The virus when loaded onto a device will attempt to transmit itself to the first Bluetooth device that it can find. Once it achieves this there is no further impact on the host mobile. If it finds an appropriate device it will prompt the user to accept a message, which will download the program. Then it will prompt the user to load the program. If the user takes these two steps the virus will then try to look for another paired device from the target mobile. The mobile will perform the same search each time it is powered up.
This attack is extremely limited:
1. It can only transmit to the first device it finds.
2. Most handsets are paired to a headset or laptop, neither of these will be running a Symbian operating system so the message sending will fail.
3. It requires the user to manually accept the download of the program.
4. It only propagates to one other device for every power up.
5. Only impact on user is reduced battery life whilst it scans for a Bluetooth device within range.
Recommendations
There is no realistic threat from this particular virus. This is however a small warning to our industry of the potential of future virus attacks. We therefore felt this information is worthwhile passing onto you. This advice covers all current known Bluetooth problems and is not limited to the CABIR virus:
Bluetooth Advice
• Switch off Bluetooth when not actually required – this will also have a beneficial impact on battery life.
• All devices should be set to hidden once the user has set up a paired connection. A persistent bluetooth attacker may still be able to access the phone, but may need to stay within range of the device for up to thirty minutes.
• Device names should be changed when first used e.g. Nokia phones come factory set as NOKIA 3650 for example.
Messaging Advice
The CABIR virus is sent in the form of a Bluetooth message, it is possible for other attacks to be sent in the form of messages using either SMS, MMS or Bluetooth. The most common form of attack currently is the sending of phone settings to mobiles using SMS or MMS.
Customers should be advised not to accept any programmes or setting changes that they have not specifically requested. Current handset configuration requires the user to manually accept downloaded programs or settings and this has so far limited any active attacks.

You know you can actually get virus's transmitted to phones with a symbian o/s. Its probably a good thing the k700 doesnt have it.

the K700i's camera is comparable to N7610. K700i is also using 1280x960 resolution

Hey Me has been around with phones for several years now. My fist phone was Amstrad. Well i have had many phones in the past and only a few have really caught my eye.
I agreed with DMX , he knows alot. Listen to the guy. Also the K700i's Camera is much better quality than n6230 (even the n6600 beats the quality of the n6230). It comes down to choice really. I haven come across another manufacturer that is as consistant as SE, SE has everything enabled. they are the connectivity Kings, Sagem and sharp has good cam phones but its all down to preference.
ps. wait till u see the S700....
remember K700 is not a smart phone. Its a very good multimedia phone. If u want one that has everything u gotta get the P900 or n6600, they use the symbian OS.

'You can only play MP3's that are recorded at 16mhz i tried to send an mp4 file of 3.5mb from itunes to the phone using the usb cable and seriously it took about an hour to send just one song!
Then i read it can only handle 16mhz recorded mp3/mp4 normally recorded at over 200mhz + for quality'
You might wanna read my post below. And check your usb set up mate. I transfered 4mb files to the phone using bluetooth in under 3 minutes.

Got this phone 3 days ago and must says I am impressed. I have had a succession of Nokias previously and was going to go for the 6230 ... That was until The big f*ck up nokia mate in the UK, delivering 11000 faulty phones to orange for distribution. Lets face it, if one of my suppliers gave me a release date and only supplied 2nd rate goods I'd not be happy. Anyway, enough ranting. I really do like this phone. The operation is intuitive and the features excellent. The person who stated that mp3s can only be played if they are 16KHz should read the spec again as this applies to .wav files. And lets don't confuse KHz with KBpS. I have mp3s on my K700 which are 44KHz and 196KBps.I currently get a 3 day battery life (medium usage). All in all it's a great phone. Let's face it, if you want good pictures get a digital camera and if you want mp3s get an Ipod but don't expext anyphone to be able to deliver satisfactorily on all 3 counts.

Hi i am Ravi ....i just started using mobiles from the month of may 2004 ...i started with a SE T105 ....was nice for the start ... i got familiar in just 10 days ....i bought a SE T610 ........i got familiar with this in just a months time ....and so i switched to a SE K700 ......and must mention the K700 is worth all the money i spent .......not to forget that all the other SE mobiles i used were NO LESS . thank u....... Ravi .

well just got one from o2,contract,very nice phone, not for sale yet, but told £270 when released, had a n6230 for a week over rated phone this is lot better, but me mate got a n6600 witch is very good 2, the n6230 is aimed at kids k7001 think not as the price wont move that much as nokia phones
