Sony Ericsson K700, S700 and Z500
The K700 camera phone is notable for its dual fronts, one for the phone features and the other for the camera. The integrated 176 x 220 pixel VGA camera with 4x digital zoom and Photo Light, allows consumers to take still pictures as well as video clips even in dimly lit environments and either store them in the phone 32MB built-in memory or send them as a picture message or an e-mail. Owing to Sony Ericsson's appreciated QuickShare™ feature, it is very simple to use the imaging features of the K700.
This triple-band GSM/GPRS phone has 65k colour, 176 x 220 pixel TFT display, facilitating high-quality multimedia and entertainment and an inbuilt speaker supports polyphonic sound for radiant ring signals and game sound effects. A powerful application solution for Java 3D graphics, multi-player games, is featured on the K700. The K700 users can download games or enjoy the preloaded 3D games.
Users can also listen to the build-in FM radio and store up to 20 favourite radio stations in the K700 with the preset function. The radio, or even MP3 files, can be listened to through a portable handsfree or through the phone's speaker.
Bluetooth, Infrared and cable support well Sony Ericsson's broad range of Bluetooth accessories. K700 camera phone has up to 7 hours talktime and up to 15 days (360 hours) in standby times.
The K700 will be on the market during Q2.
The S700 camera phone with QuickShare™ and innovative 180º swivel-opening design is here to enhance mobile imaging. It presents an integrated 1.3 megapixel CCD digital camera with 8x digital zoom for taking high quality photos and a 2.3 inch 262K TFT colour screen to display 240 x320 pixel digital quality images with excellent clarity. To further enhance the imaging experience, the S700 comes with photo light to enable photography in dark environments along with the possibility to stream and capture video clips. This new style of mobile imaging is supported trough the Memory Stick Duo™ which extends the memory capacity of the S700.
The innovative swivel design offers users a way easily to employ all of the features included. With the phone closed, it is possible to view messages, browse menus, and make calls. The phone turned over helps you to take photos with a steady, two-handed grip. The 'camera-mode' is automatically activated with the opening of the camera lens shutter and the phone's keypad for easy texting or e-mails is accessed in a swivel motion.
The S700 gaming features include a 3D gaming engine from Hi Corp, embedded Java games and the capability to download additional gaming packages. Among the additional exciting entertainment applications are an MP3 music player, mobile music service, Music DJ™ ring tone composer, and 40 polyphonic ringtones. Compatibility with MemoryStick Duo, Bluetooth and infrared means that the S700 offers a wide range of connectivity options. It has up to 7 hours talktime and up to 12.5 days (300 hours) in standby mode.
The S700 will be available in Q4 2004.
The Z500 is the company's first phone featuring EDGE technology. It supports the fastest EDGE-solution, which will be available on the market, and can send and receive data at speeds up to 240 kbps. "The Sony Ericsson Z500 is ideal for the 'on demand' consumer who wants fast data access, speedy connections and instant entertainment," said Urban Gillström, President of Sony Ericsson USA. The Z500 is also enabled with Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) for two-way radio style communication, and is well suited for small and medium enterprises that need frequent intermediate contacts, or consumers that want to chat with friends and family.
Its external 4,096 colour display serves as a viewfinder for capturing images or to display Picture CallerID. Users can even read text messages without the need to open the phone. The 16-track MusicDJ™ application allows users to create polyphonic ring tones. The rich 65,536 colour screen, polyphonic sound, vibration feedback, laid-out keyboard and 3D Java games makes Z500 a very good companion.
The Sony Ericsson Z500 EDGE camera phone will be available in Q3 2004 in the Americas.
