No, it's not built on Symbian OS, it's built on a custom JAVA OS bulit by SE with "Mascot Capsule" 3D-Engine integerated into it.

GPRS has nothing to do with the connection of the K750 with the PC, GPRS is for internet/WAP connection, the connection with the PC is via the fast port -using the supplied USB cable-, Bluetooth or IrDA.
If you wanted to copy/move any data to the shared memory, the speed will be average or less, but if moving/copying to the MS, the speed with be much faster.

- I can't tell if you'll be able to repeat the steps again or not -it depends when the disconnection happened-, what I can assure to you is disconnection during the updating process won't damage your phone or software, just give it a try and if anything wrong happened -and you were unable to repeat the steps-, you can take the phone to any SE customer care center for fixing.
- No, not yet, guess you'll start the updating proccess just after reading this, so you're just one step away from the new firmware to tell the differences yourself.
- Try your own region first, if it didn't work, you can try middle-east (en) -my region-.

They are the same, K750i stands for International version -in supported languages-, while K750c stands for China version -with chinese language support and as the primary language in the phone OS-.

Though I don't understand a word but let me try, when you finish installing the SEUS package and restart the PC, there will be an icon on your desktop named "Update Service", click on that icon, now select the port type of your K750 -as far as I remember, the left one-, now connect the USB cable into the phone and follow the instructions -when it tells you to press C and hold it, just keep pressing it and wait, it will start automatically-.

I guess your phone will already have the latest firmware installed into it, to check that go to stand-by mode -get out of screen saver/clock mode by pressing back key, or press * then right-hand soft key (Unlock) if you have the keybad locked-, now move the joystick to right direction -ignore the application that will open, if any, and continue with the combination-, press *, move the joystick to left direction twice then press *, move the joystick again to left direction then finally press *, a "Service" menu will open, click on "Service info" and then click on "Software info", the first line is your current working firmware.
If it was different than R1BC002, just read my post addressed to "maani" in my posting in page 7 or 8 to know how to install your phone on your PC and update its firmware.

1) No, the built-in player is more than enough, and it plays video too.
2) Your phone is able to play back 3GP and MPEG4 (MP4) formats, you can try MpegAble X4 Live or ImToo converters, just while converting make sure to make the resolution 176*144 to scale correctly with your k750 screen.

Set the phone into silent mode before opening the lens cover and take a picture, if the shutter sound was muted, then you're OK, if it wasn't , then you'll either have to live with it, or change the firmware into other country one.

Hi,
thanks a lot, i was able to finish software update.
I want some more information.
1) Do we have any other Video Player for SONY K750i, which can be installed to my mobile and can play movie clips.
2) Right now i can only play 3GP format. can anyone suggest me any software to convert .dat to 3GP so that i can play in my mobile. If i convert like that does it realy works?

Thanks for updating me about the screen size of SE k750i. But now I am eyeing for SE K800i becuase it screen size is 2.0 inch. and camera is 3.2MP, WOW! . Hey u seem kinda guru with SE mobile phones. Could u tell me the SE does provide any resale value for old phone. That is if I purchase K750i and want some discount on K800i(not yest launched). Plz help me since K750i is my long time dream phone. What I upset is the screen size. Wish if would have been bigger like Nokia 3230 or SE S700i.

After updating firmware, my k750's GPRS is working also other problems are solved.

But its web browser is very poor ,not as good as symbian.In default browser GPRS speed is very low & some specific web page it cann't open,in Opera mini browser speed is good but can not download anything, save option does not appear.Is there any another perfect browser ?

someone help i am really struggling i want to do update service and all that so i can have cool extras n things n i go to osny ericson support and download the update service stuff then when is all n i click on the program and it says start accept licence and then select phone end or something then i follow the instructions of u no like hold c n all then i do that stuff then it comes up with an instalation thing i do that and now i have heaps of stuff on my comptuer...now what do i do?

if during the installation of new firmware my conection going disconect .can i install it again or i should get it to SE customer care service? i mean disonecting from the net during the installation will damage the software of the phon.?
and one thing els,do you install the new firmware? and if u install this,did it work good?
another one,which region can i select fot updating the firmware for set off the camera shutter sound?

doul or who ever...my phone ahs done it again....a guy sent me a pic by infared and i set it as my wall paper then i wanted to change it and wheneva i choose something the stand by screen is just red(red because my theme is eternal)

In the old SEUS -the updating software-, the new firmware file used to be stored in one of Sony Ericsson folders which are located in Program Files folder under C:\ root in your system, so it was easy to get the firmware as a "stand alone" software, put it into that folder and on with the updating process, but that is no longer happening with the new SEUS, as the firmware gets directly from SE servers to your phone, without being copied into the HDD, so I guess offline updating is not possible.
I'm running on a slow dial-up 56 K modem myself, and I managed to update my firmware twice so far, it took a long time yes, but it went through all the steps successfully.
Just give it a try on your machine, and if it didn't work, just take to to any of SE customer care centers and they will do it for you in no more than 10 minutes.

I can't officially confirm it, but in my belief, nothing is not replacable, you'll have to check on that while you're buying it.

I just bought this phone offcontract for $400 and dont ever regret it totally gr8 phone. Business Phone And Fun Phone.. Best phone of the century and at the time. No better phone than this.

i mean is there any package that i can download it from the internet and install withot internet conection?cause my conection is low speed and it disconect ery 30 or 40 minutes.

K750 hardware/build quality is better/higher than W800 hardware/build quality -read this page to know what I mean: http://www.mobique.com/sonyericsson/w800i/page7.php -, as for the screen, both W800 and K750 have the same (not imbedded) screen -read here: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w800-review-47.php under "So fine" title-.
I'm not totally aware of the description (not imbedded) meaning, but as far as I understand it and to make it easier for you to understand it, look at your PC monitor edges, you'll see a thicker part of the monitor plastic/hardware itself enclosing the edges of the glass surface of the screen itself, this is to protect the screen surface when your monitor fell down on the ground, when that happens, that plastic enclosing will take the hit instead of the screen because its thicker than the glass of the screen surface, so it will reach the ground first.
K750 and W800 don't have that surrounding plastic, so if the phone fell down on the ground, the screen surface will directly hit the floor -for there's no protective surrounding thicker shield to receive the hit instead of the screen surface- causing a scratching in its glass surface -not the LCD surface itself, there's a glass layer on top of the LCD, that will be scrached-.

- You are already in the correct place, you need to download and install that "Update Service" software, you'll need to install your phone on your PC first.
For a complete instructions of how to install the phone on the PC and update its firmware, please read my post addressed to "maani" in my posting in page 7 or 8.
- There's no "Hide" option in K750 software, there's no way to hide or lock any of your data/files stored in both of the shared memory and the MS, if you have important data, make sure to store it in your PC HDD instead of the phone memory -always make a back-up for your phone memory stored data anyway just as "DJblakel" recommends-
If you're talking about the folders which are automatically created on the MS after performing a full format to it, they can't be deleted or be hidden, evertime you format the MS they will be re-created automatically again.

When you say it's getting scratched, is it the actual display unit or just a protective screen over the actual TFT LCD? Cuz, if it's the actual TFT LCD that's getting scratched there are big chances of permanent damages right?
