@MrProper
Didn't you know?
Even k800 can watch youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/mobile
open www.youtube.com and look at the page - properly.
@Lee
I used to own k750i (I then modified to w800)so what are you talking about? definitely I'd still go with my k850i
@Nick
Ofcourse DVDs and etc. players use IR, but that's not the point.
I used to have a java application a la Universal Remote with my K750i. And I remember a certain phone (LED phone) that has dedicated remote control (those cthat can be used with a TV set)

@rock. This took me about 1 minute to find! Page 20 right now. 2008-02-18 21:18. I will quote myself."I saw the k850 for the first time in the roger's store. Roger's carry's the k850 now. The feature's are good except no wi fi or gps.Battery good. I must say though it look's really cheap looking and the button's for the keypad are really small. Cheer's sir nick." Read next time rock before you post!!!!!!

If someone here knew how to read they would realise that i posted here stating i have seen the k850 in person cause roger's is offering it now. I saw it, while i was in the mall and i went into the roger's store! I said that i thought it looked cheap. People that refuse to spell properly, i guess it's no surprise they can't read either! This posting was a few week's back.

@nick
what's the surprise?
Universal remote through IR is very old application, man.
^_^
They even acquired it in bluetooth.
It's a shame though for the k850. IR has been removed from it.

@Allan
The W series and the K series has separate concepts.
Imagine this:
-why is it that they have incorporated a walkman brand into a smartphone package (W960), which they did not with a K series?
-Why is it that there are more Walkman models than Cyber-shot ones?
-Why can't SE produce a combined feature between Cyber-shot and Wlakman series?
-Why is it that the walkman series always lack camera features, while the cyber-shot lacks mp3 player enhancements?
The walkman series is easier to create and conceptualize than a cyber-shot phone. You just need to tweak the program. You can easily incorporate that to any package. The cyber-shot series needs alot more than just software. It needs a good lens (Nokia won over carl zeiss, I don't know why - the last carl zeiss SE phone was K750), and they have to incorporate that in a tiny package.
But since the K850 is level 8, its incorporation to a smartphone design is not yet in-hand. The walkman series, which sells more than the cyber-shot phones acquired level 9.
Sooner or later you will see something like
a w960 type cyber-shot phone, but as of the moment, that concept is still under study.

@Mrigank pawar,,it seems as if something in background is draining power or your battery is wrecked but it should not go down that quick with little use..cannot think of anything else at moment,,,i am using samsung d900 today to gat head cleared about hc memory cards ha !!

Sniper. The w960 is a candy bar phone as well, but the screen size on that is 2.6". No sacrifice there. To me the design on the w960 is far better.

@Allan
because they don't want it to become bulky.
They want the K concept to remain candy bar like. They want it to be smaller as possible. And to become smaller, some sacrifices has to be made - thus the appearance of 2.2" screen and the unique D-pad.
They don't have to follow the Samsung trend of sliders. They want it compact and camera-like.
Who knows? maybe the next K series becomes slider, but I don't want to imagine that. Sliders, for me are best for being smart phones, and walkman phones.

@MP
whoa.
that's weird. That is the case with the 038 firmware. What's your firmware though?
let's experiment.
-disable auto keypad lock. try manual keypad lock from time to time.
-enable bluetooth power save on.
-disable 3g (optional)
-charge phone for 3-4 hours, when batt is fully drained
let's see then what will happen.

Sniper. If this phone was a slider you could have a bigger screen and separate button's from the keypad. This screen is smaller than the n95-1.

Not lame at all!
With all honesty I love that SE design.
It's so unique. You just don't like it, that's why you say it's lame.

Does the menu and/or scrolling button on the k850 surround the 2 and 5 on the keypad. If so, that's really lame. They can't even put it separately from the keypad! Yeah, real good design, not!
