looking at this comparison :-

the P1 blows it away - the only thing that would put me of is the lack of Quad band in the P1 - but if you're not planning on visiting the more rural areas of the USA then you'd be fine.

Unfortunately I've never touched a P1 so I can't really compare the two, all I can re-iterate is the K850i was filthy with smudges and finger marks within 1 min of normal use. Most phones nowadays attract marks of this type but as the back is made of the same cheap plastic as the front it makes the phone look awful it really does. I'm looking at my K800 now and the difference is startling.

DonLobardo, just a question are you really sure that Sony Ericsson K850 is only 23,500?
Because I'm really dying to have a K850 unit & i have been roaming around Greenhills & SM Megamall & North Edsa cyberzone's & they dont have that unit yet.. Anyone here who have idea where to buy and how much K850 is?

Thanks for the review, I'm still debating between K850 and P1. After you've play with the K850, would you say P1 might be a better choice in terms of features, no talking about camera, or quality? I was worry about the housing might cause finger print all over it. Thanks again!

No offends, but if N95 is a masterpiece, Nokia themself would not release N95 8gb, identical product with only minor improve features. Now tell me, their design team went on vacation? Do they even care how customer react to the same design prior to last year? Have you ever seen a Sony Ericsson identical to any previous model? So is N95 really a masterpiece or N95 8gb is? I bet when N82 is out and everyone will be praising that phone as "Masterpiece". Loyal Nokia fans are getting play left and right and still too blind to see.

To open the lens..you have to press the on/off button on the side.... duh!!

absolutely awsome phone unmatched
for the dude that asked if any body else was having problems with the lens it locks shut when you press on the back i have found a sharp but gental tab on the side releases the lens shutter

Duh duh duh. K850 is the mobile imaging king today. Great job from SE for the build quality. This is the closest thing you can get from a digicam experience. The user interface is just great esp the media.

Guys i see the K850i has come under scrutiny and its finally getting some criticism!!! let em know what other problems you all encounter with it cuz i was thinking about buying this phone but i saw someone make mention to the N82 and dude that phone seems better and nokia phones are of quality unlike the plastic feel this phone has to it as someone also mentioned!

Why i'm writing about the new Nokia N82, because i bought this crap K850, i sold it on eBay 4 days after i try it! I was full of bugs, the video recording was really bad and the lens cover had problem opening!!!
I was i SE fan but not ANYMORE!!!

..yea,den wht bout da prob wit da flash..y duz all da fotos turn out 2 b dark if da foto is taken wit da flash..i mean heck,its a cybershot but it fails miserably wen it coms in comparison 2 da N95,atleast fo now..da SE K800i & K810i takes far mo bettr fotos than both da SE K850i & Nokia N95,atleast thts wht i think at da moment..disappointd at da quality ov da SE K850i cybershot..

Guys, i have a problem with the camera lens!
when i turn the camera on, the lens doesn't open!!!!! does anybody have the same problem??

Forgot to add....
The Keypad is awful to use, surely the 1st thing you have to get right with a keypad is that it must be effective and pleasant to use - these are not, they're the worst I;ve seen for a long time.
How can they go from producing something so well built as the K800 to this is beyond me.
My K850 is on it's way back - thank god for the UK distance selling Regulations.

This phone looks great - on the web in picturs, but when you get it home it feels cheap and plasticky, cheaply made and ugly. When you start using it you instantly see that although large the screen is duller than say the K800 whites are off-white. Then you start to see how slow the GUI functions, that's even before you start playing an mp3 and the thing gets slower.
Take a pic and the resulting on screen image actually has artifacting, now I know this wont be replicated once exported but still it's not nice to see.
The lights on the keys don't light up evenly (I guess to allow for the extra set on the top for camera use) adding to it's cheapness in the looks department.
The rocker control in the centre is not intuative to use at all and you will constantly accidentally activate the touch screen buttons.
Finally, within seconds of taking this out of the box the phone looks filthy with smears and marks from your (yes they were clean) hands. The material they have used for the entire case is a cheap black plastic that just looks awful.
For a flagship product the K850 will only be liked by fanboys who are desperate for the latest product. I personally use nothing but SE phones so I was very disappointed by this.

I've xpected sumthng more.....disappointed keypads needs a huge improvement as well as camera quality nd guys plz gro up dont compare it wid n95,95 is a masterpiece even the quality of n73 is much better than k850 overall
