There isn´t comparation between K850 & Nokia N95...K850 have GPS? No. Have 16M Color Display? No. Have 160MB Internal Memory? No. Have Big screen? No. 3.5 mm audio output jack? No. Have TV OUT? No. HAVE WIFI????? NO. Do you think the internet experience is better than N95? No. Have Multimedia Keys? NO. Have Office Documents Support? NO... IS IT AN SMART PHONE??? OF COURSE NOT!!! So, what´s this S.E.? ONLY A GOOD CAMERA.

            =============

if you like your photos with more "wow" factor and never plan to edit them later, then your safe bet is Nokia . Otherwise, if you want your photos as accurate as possible and preserving as much detail for further editing, then you should go with Sony Ericsson K850i. Pictures are natural in SE while in N95 lots of post processing is done to add contrast etc. It's slow.

I agree that this firmware does indeed have lots of bugs. And I mean LOTS of bugs. This has to be one of the least finished firmwares to ever be shipped by SE. In saying that though, I only have a few big problems:

                1. The firmware associated with the camera is poor. The shutter sometimes closes which the picture is still being taken and so I end up with a black image.
                2. The flash often discharges too early, resulting in a darkened photo.
                3. The volume buttons aren't always responsive. [O2 firmware specific]
                4. Thumbnails created stay in the phone even after the content has been deleted
                5. It is impossible to disable GPRS.
                6. The auto-rotate feature consumes too much processing power
                7. Where the hell did the SMS viewing options go? I can't disable the preview of a message...
                8. Smart search doesn't work efficiently because I have a lot of numbers. Surely the idea of smart search is to aid those with lots of numbers?
                9. I want the option to change what the left touch button does. I don't want a link to media.
                10. I'm not sure how this has happened, but my photos have become corrupt twice now. I think it happens when I leave the camera while a photo is still being saved. It's hard to replicate though, so I'll have to wait for it to happen a third time to see exactly what causes it...

I'm aware these aren't all specifically firmware bugs, but some are features that have needlessly been omitted...

I love this phone, I love the new OS, but it just needs to be sorted ASAP. It clearly wasn't properly tested before shipping, and now we early adopters have to cope with these minor annoyances..

My pictures are coming out great. No flaw. No problems. For picture quality visit gsmarena or any mobile review site. Pics are natural and YES THEY CAN PHOTO FIXED in phone itself.

i own a n95 and now the k850i. unlike most of the people posting, i know which one is better...SE. camera-se, screen-n, battery life-se, video-?, gps-n, speed-se. the only thing that really makes the n95 stand out is the gps, however, you better have it plugged in or your battery will be dead in no time. as far as all these people talking about the k800 k810 etc. (i've owned them) tri-band! the k850 is the first decent phone to work on the us 3g and is able to work in europe!!! quad band ensures great coverage anywhere in the world. I have to say, this is THE BEST phone available. period.

                                Yo ppl,

I work for a popular mobile phone retailer, cant disclose this to you as i'll get sacked but anyway word on the street is that my sony ericsson rep told me the tech guys @ Sony Ericsson HQ are using 32GB memory cards in the K850i.

Memory card is likely to be priced somewhere around the region of £300-£350 when they come out.

                                How kool is that...

                                  Dan,

The N95 captures video in VGA resolution which is 640 x 480 pixels wide at 30fps.
The K850i captures video in QVGA resolution which is 320 x 240 pixels, a quarter of the size of VGA (thats where the 'Q' comes from) at 30fps.

However, considering that both phones have a screen resolution of QVGA anyway, your not gonna see a difference watching video on either devices!

You will only see a contrasting difference when put onto a PC and enlarge the screen size (pixelation will occur), but because they're neither dedicated video capture devices (such as Camcorders) they'll both suffer from various visual anomillies!

The K850i's video quality is still gonna be good enough for YouTube, if public broadcasting is your thing!

Have fun with the K850i if you get it! :)

                                  ============================================

This to everyone who writes on this forum:
(...and I mean all forums on GSMArena!)

I have noticed a code of conduct called "Posting Rules" that is attached to every posting application page; I copied & paste said rules below.

                                  ************ Posting rules **************

                                  -Please no foul language

-Be polite and use common sense

                                  -English only

-Expressions of hatred based on race/ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, and religion are strictly prohibited

                                  -No commercial advertising

-No SPAM. No pyramid schemes of any kind

-No bashing - deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand will get you banned

-No trolling - deliberately antagonizing other brand/model users will get you banned

-Read before you post. Search before you post. There is a big chance that your question is already answered

-No ALL CAPS, they are considered impolite
                                  Unlocking discussions are not welcome

If you don't follow the above rules, your post will be probably deleted.

Now I've noticed that some of you [you know who you are ;)] do not follow this "code"!

I realise its not policed by GSMArena as originally threatened, but I think they want us to police ourselves, to all be respectful to each other!

Can't we all just play nice?

                                  Cheers.

                                  :) :p ;) :0

Just another ergonomic problem, but it's something that's easily avoidable.
Nokia's poor slide mechanism? Well, if they do something about it, then I guess it's... changeable, not avoidable, unless you don't get the phone all together.

Problem with flash solved, when i took a photo it was dark, the flash didn't seem to work fully, i have figured out why! your finger when holding the phone to take a photo goes near the flash and there's a pin hole near the flash that gets covered by your finger or just gets near it and messies with the light sensor? move your finger out of the way and it takes a perfect photo in the dark. make sure you take off the clear film off the back of the phone as well, i set it on auto and 400 iso and focus on infinity and that will make doubley sure it will work.
