The phone is an event for sure. But still lacks any answer to the quality Carl Zeiss optics from Nokia.
It lacks GPS, and last but not least WiFi. So even though I`m currently using SE W810i, it`s just a matter of some time before I switch to N95, just waiting for their depreciation. Sorry SE but will have to say bye to you soon.
Oh, ...quite forgot Nokia is the best connection receiver-transmitter! Its always been so, but they lacked some advanced technology like SE, but now they are beyond any competition.

"Lousy video recording, complete absence of WLAN, complete absence of optical zoom. This phone is ridiculous. Look, the compact digicam Casio Exilim Z1000 has dimensions 92*58*22mm so it is highly portable AND it is 10MP with optical zoom. Other examples include the Panasonic Lumix TZ2 and the Pentax Optio A20. The SE K850 simply cannot compete with them and these digicams are highly portable. This is why it is better for a multimedia device to be an allrounder and not pretend to be a fantastic camera. The W960 or W990 is a much better buy. "
really? then can those Casio cameras perform messaging? internet browsing? music playing? those cameras are of even no match to the specs of cybershot W200 camera equipped with steadyshot image stabilizer, ISO 3200, 12Mpixel resolution in a smaller form factor. what would you call that? please don't compare the phone to a dedicated camera. even though this phone holds the cybershot name, this is still a phone basically disguised in a camera form.

this phone is great and i think it will have better picture quality then N95 because SE cameras r rated as high while nokia cameras are rated as average

I just hope the MP3 player sound volume will be a lot more stronger because on my K800 its way to low even to the volume and the equalizer to the max :( SE K850 will be a great phone but THE best phone ever!

@eNVy
w960 & k850 are 2 great SE fones!
i go with w960! music is for cool people:)
soon its camera will be outdated, another higher megapixel will be realesed, but walkman music quality is just the same....
camera flash will be phased out soon because censor camera will soon be released. its 10x better than a flash, and no more irritating light when taking a photo in the dark, just a damn hightech censor at night:)
mobile companys are starting to copy it.
and soon SE cybershot w/ xenon flash??? nonono!!!! SE cybershots w/ censor light will rise:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried to get excited about this phone but there are too many inequalities. In the 21st century, mid 2007 how can you have a high-end phone which has a 5MP camera but coupled with lousy video recording?? This is not a cheap budget phone, so why did SE do this?? They should leave out video recording and strictly stick to stills photography instead of pretending to be a multimedia device and insisting on backward technology. Furthermore why are these people too STINGY to implement WLAN??

this has same recording as w900i and the trouble with my w900 is it recorded in 3gp format and was not good..The resolution was qvga and 30 fps but it rippled a lot like you get with 3gp videos thats why i sold w900i and this looks the same thing come s/e mpeg4 vga please,,you have been critised before for still using the ancient qcif res but people want more because of videoing events plus sending to newsroom any footage and when they blow it up its embarrasing wen all you captured is pixellated

After days of thinking, looks like my decision will be K850 over the W960.
-8GB is great, but not really needed.
-Wi-fi is handy, but how often will I actually use it.
-Touch screen will leave the screen greasy, and stylus isn't pratical all the time and sometimes annoying.
-Full visualizations in music player, might be able to get same concept with flash themes and other options, if not oh well, sacrifice music player for camera, and I would rather have camera
-Symbian OS...who cares
While K850 is dual memory card capable, best avialable in phone camera, auto-rotate, flash enabled, smaller in size, longer stand by battery time, digital compact like style and battery/sim/m2 port, xenon flash + 3 led lights so better video recording, as well as all this and more for a cheaper price!!
k850 - $700 USD
W960 - $800 USD
(as far as I have heard)

this is definitely the best phone until now. the picture quality will definitely be better than the n95, just look at the facts: k750 had better pic quality than n90 even if n90 had carl zeiss optics, once again k800 had better pic quality than n73 even if n73 had carl zeiss optics (add to that that the k800 had a REAL XENON FLASH instead of that little led one) which leads to the obvious conclusion that k850 will have better pic quality than n95 even if n95 has carl zeiss optics, and besides...k850 has a real xenon flash!! instead of that little led one that is far from being a real flash. k850 has also a 3led light for video recording. besides, k850 has better design, which ensures an increased phone durability the nokia n95 won't have because of it's double slider factor. the battery life is way better in the k850 and finally, i bet it will be way cheaper than the EXPENSIVE n95. so there you go, sony ericsson k850 is definitely the winner.
