what u said (starting as mass media storage) usually happens if the data cable is loose or some tiny glitch. it WILL happen. this is a standard problem. and has a standard solution.
make sure battery is charged.
remove and reinsert the battery.
connect cable to PC 1st.
hold 'c' button on phone and whilst holding it down insert the data cable. keep it pressed. and be patient. very patient.
if for some reason u still can't do it, take it to an SE service station. they'll do it for you. but they will charge u. and remember, back up EVERYTHING(messages, contacts, calendar dates, phone memory data).

Baig, 09 May 2009how can i make a firmware updateon the cd that u got with the phone there will be a few softwares. of them, install the SE PC Suite (version 4.0, i think) to back up all your data.
then use the SE Update Service software to update your firmware. its a simple procedure. 1st the program checks your firmware version and then downloads the latest version if required or available. Follow the on screen instructions. its simple.
u'll need your data cable too.

I might also considering getting Nokia 5310 though. (this is as a secondary phone)

I had the same problem "application failed" and it got progressively worse ie. i could'nt get into my games, apps, videos etc. either a firmware update over seus or a new flash if you wish to retrive those gaames that where deleted over DaVinci or Wotanserver which cost 7 Euros

Dani, 09 May 2009I might be buying a K800i again.the k800 really was good value for money, and was a really nice handset when it came out, that said, the N73 still trumphed it.
and yes, the cybershot branding is what pulls them through. It seems apparent that Sony Ericsson camera phones are not as good as the competition, and it is only a matter of time until consumers realise this.
