@agy

No i'm not worried about fakes because I can distinguish them easily. What i'm worried about No Warranty is the defect that may arise due to low quality build. Do u think P1i is tough enough to sustain the risk without warranty?

The lower price is tempting and i'll wait for your GO command :)

nyc, 06 Jun 2008thanks agy. just want to ask also if u can possibly give m... morejust look around anywhere at the tiangge

prices of cps at tiangge varies day to day and time to time. what is 30k in the morning might already be 32k in the evening and might be 31k the next day. it's weird right but it's true

to all those who are asking:

plastic film- you'll know that once you've seen the actual unit.

i don't have a credit card so i don't know. credit card sucks. there's no more financial planning once you had one

    can't reccommend any stall.

just make sure that you read the tips. once you met all the criteria you're solved.

the SE logo at startup is the most important. next is the phone initialization.

if you're buying a no warranty phone it's worth the risk once you met all the criteria in my tips.

don't buy in malls. cps there are expensive.

but if you don't have enough cash, use your credit card and buy in malls. good luck in your interest rate and capacity to pay monthly

    cheers

          Hi pinoys!
I need your opinion incase I'll buy the cheaper no warranty unit.

Is P1i build quality reliable? Have u experience repairs due to factory defect? What part in it that is prone to damange?

Just wanna know if the cheaper no warranty unit is worth the risk...

          thanx

            Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970depends

if you're gonna buy in malls, yes. if in tiangge, no.

Some tips on buying p1i in tiangge:

there should be thin plastic films on the phone (LCD, camera lens, SE logo, etc)

            there should be no scratches

upon turning on the cellphone, the SE logo should appear

the phone should take minutes to initialize then asks for date and time. if it only took around a minute to initialize then immediately went to the main menu, have second thoughts.

make sure that the cp you're buying has 1 year service warranty. this warranty is different from parts and service warranty. if you want parts and service warranty, simply buy a p1i with ntc seal (more expensive of course)

make sure the box is complete

            then enjoy your p1i.

stop researching cps from then on to avoid frustrations!

p1i is a good phone with a good price.

last, all p1i are made in china so ensure that the SE logo appears at startup!

take care of your p1i. this phone is a head turner so a lot of people (thieves) would be prying on your phone. 15k is hard to earn.

i had the same problems with p990i. i called many times to the operators to solve my problem. even send my phone to service... well, after a long time y solve the problem alone. the problem are internal settings, something about internet groups, etc... sorry y can;t tell you more because y didnt own the phone anymore. internet settings and a good manage will help you to solve your problem.

                      Sony Ericcson P1i

The "i" stands for "international" and is sold in the international market.

It's really a PDA instead of a regular phone and is quite pricey.

The phone call quality is quite good but the speakerphone volume must be kept

To all those who are asking:

I bought my p1i at greenhills shopping center.

                          here's the breakdown: 13.9k unit (1 year service warranty), 700 (upgraded 1 gig to 2 gig), 150 washable LCD protector = 14, 750

oh yes, i also bought a genuine leathercase for my p1i worth 980.

it now looks like a cellphone for executives

                          hoho

my old cellphone (k550i) was blown away by typhoon "cosme". it's currently at a repair shop. Bought it last august for 10.5k inclusive of 1 gig memory card.

Don't buy in malls. CPs there are expensive.

Gonna bring my new p1i to australia this december.

if I were you, I would recommend you to buy P1i in Greenhills Shopping Center because it's more affordable, lower price than in Malls. You have an option to buy a non-warranty or with warranty in Greenhills. No warranty cost P13,500 with 1 gigabyte memory stick (latest firmware installed already), brand new. If you prefer with 1 year warranty, the price is ranging from P16,000 to P17,000.

SE P1i are available in malls and the price is too high (ranging from P17,000 to P18,000) with 1 year warranty compare to cellphone "tiange" in Greenhills. In Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan Metro Manila P1i cost P13,500 or US$314 (brandnew), no warranty with latest firmware installed already with 1 gigabyte memory stick.

I definitely got my money's worth for buying this phone. all the neat features and the availability of themes (.utz) makes this phone a must have. you can also customize the outside phone icons. The only feature that I think this phone lacks is how you can arrange the tracks in the playlist.
