when i connect my phone to an internet enabled laptop, how come my p990 still connects to the internet via gprs instead of the laptop's internet connection?
My P900 used to use the systems internet connection.
Please help!!!

i have an N80 and a friend of mine offered me to change it with a new one P990i. Is it better for me or for him ?? Please answer .

Heyya peeps, I just bought this model few wks back. My matter now is, I able to browse the Internet via GPRS/EGDE and I also can send and receive MMS, but my problem is I totally can't use the video streaming. I have done the setting via the mobile provider but still have the problem. Anyone out there can help me out?? TQ -Happy faces all around-

With keypad removed how do u update,when C has to be pressed while plug data cable.I hav to put onn and off for every update.This is full plastic cheap when battery removed,its Made n China all the way.The silver finish and brick shape has doomed it.Firmware one upon another 5 times has improved little than the price to 250$.Resale is 80% off the new.It never made it to the top nor will it,only P1 has salvaged it temporary.

i think what he is trying to say is whenever someone is calling him and its ringing, he trying to find an option to silent it but not totally silent the phone itself.
i get you point, maybe what you are trying to say is whenever you are engaged in a call already then that mute will work. am i right?

The easiest way to make this on a "silent" mode is just HOLD & press the (#) sign for half second and it will show you and mute icon on the top of the phone screen. HOLD & press the (#) again to deactivate.

Hi P990NG, when ur flip is closed and call comes press centre key navigation key to mute it. And when the flip is open then press backspace key to mute the call. This is the way which i used and this will definitely works. Tell me some tips and tricks for this phone if u know. i know some tips and i will tell to u. But on my email id not on this. Thanks

Dear omg omg,
There is no option visible while its ringing & i have tried with couple of keys but couldn't find the option. Please suggest in case you are aware of any option.

i know what you are trying to say. just in case someone calls you and its ringing, try to look for the option for silent and/ or press more button to check if the option is available there.

Thanks for kind reply. Actually this option I know, this will put the phone on silent mode. I want to know that in case phone is on ringing mode and you are in a meeting and just wants to make it silent without disconnecting, pleaee inform

there's a triangle shape icon on the bottom part far left of the screen. click it, then click volume, check silent and click done.

this phone is real nice and has a good performance. im sonyericsson fanatic all the phone are good.first i got T100,t230,t310,t610,p800,k750i,z800,k800 and now i got p990i.im trying to save money for the next product hehehe!! planning to buy the k850. i really love sony ericsson, ( i love my cell)heehehe!!
i like their features even text messages you can put picture and it will appear if you have message very nice phones!!!

YES people, the P990 can take up to 8Gigs of the Memorystick Pro Duo. High speed is available till 4Gigs only. standard pro duo gets you up to 8Gigs. high speed or not, the P990 can take it.

by the way, im trying to install the update service of SE but i keep having an error regarding the macromedia version its not compatible. i updated the flash player already but it still happens.
what is the latest version of this phone?

this phone rocks! but i hope sony ericsson would release an update on the phone itself or something like a memory expansion for ram memory. just it!

To: Sef - thanks for the info. about possible successor of P990. You are right, we'll just wait any spypic available. I just hope, SE is serious about coming up with the new Pseries. Hopefully, RAM & ROM + CPU speed is better than P1. At least I can replace my P990 by next year if this rumor is correct.

SE P990i supports 4gb. i'm using 4gb currently.No issues, it's faster. planning to updgrde to 8GB. does anyone knows whetehr it supports 8GB. i read somewhere it can supports upto 8GB.. but if anyone used P990 with 8gb it will be better to know.

according to some sources in other SE forums, there will be an SE announcement in november, the rumored P990 successor will be announced there along with the SE's real answer to the iPhone which has no keys at all but full touchscreen. the P990 successor is said to have HSDPA, GPS, Faster CPU, 5Mp camera and same amount of RAM with the P1. lets wait for further spypic leaks :)
