New firmware as of Feb 8, 2007:
Phone: R9EC001
Bluetooth: R5A01
Organizer: R4B03
CDA: R4B03
No big difference, the phone is slightly faster when scrolling, opening menus, you can now create new folders on the menu in flip closed mode. Also, a minute after installing the new firmware, my phone restarted twice.

P990i is a working symbian phone, N80/N93i is an entertainment phone... Currently look at the market , P990i still rule among all the symbian PDA phone...

FOR USERS LOOKING FOR A REVIEW FOR THE SE P990i MUST READ THIS! DONT GET THE SE P990i! Too much to explain. Let me just list it.
- only 2mp camera
- the version of Symbian has too many bugs
- NOT enough ram! this thing freezes SO MANY TIMES!
- deletes everything in phone for no apparent reason.
For people that are willing the consider the P990i, i assume u have the money to spend on this. i'd rather recommend u to spend the money on a Nokia N93 or Nokia N80/N80ie.
i have a N80IE and it works great! except the battery. but hey, nothing is perfect! Yet stil much better than the SE P990i

the multimedia volume can not increase even i update it !but u go this webside to update!

instruction connect the cable and press the c button hold it ,until the computer detect ur mobile phone!remember !before install it ,backup your device first include third party application and setting,after you restore back the setting like such as ring tone,wallpaper ,themes use apply still remains the same,so not need to insert back all thing from your computer!it is very convenience! hope that can help you!good luck!

lol. i have both the n80 and p990 and of course right now the p990 is better. To put albulm art put all the songs from an album in a folder and put a 300*300 or 150*150 jpeg in that same folder. that is inside music youl have another folder called loose-Nelly Furtado and in that youlll have songs like promiscious and also the jpeg image. Dont know when the next p series is gonna be launched. It upsets me too that se keeps releasing crap prototypes like w880 and k something..... now ill have to buy the n95 when it comes out. The error message on your memory card means you have to format it nd all userdata will be lost. anymore questions contact me by mail

how much user memory does it have ? is it true that it has 60MB for music,images and videos? anything that u receive via bluetooth goes directly on the memory card? pls somebody answer

Hi All, i agree with ajay, i have had the phone for over 2 weeks, i have R7 firmware and i have found the phone solid, it has only restarted once, since then it has been a dream, i waited long for this handset and while waiting i had a nokia n80, which dissapointed me with its constant restarting and general buggy software. i only have 1 petty issue with the handset:
is there a "power on" mode with the alarm, i use this as my alarm clock asweel, but i cant get it to switch on in the morning when the alarm is supposed to go off, the only way around the situation is to put the phone in flight mode and leave it on all night so the alarm can activate. other than that i have no other issues with this, after using p900 and 910i this is a worthy step forward and i am glad i purchased it!hope more people are happy with this product and thanks to all people who go out of there way to help others in this forum, you know who you are! give yourselves a pat on the back 8)

It took me 2 long months to search for the right PDA mobile that meets all my requirements. I zeroed it on to 990. I got confused when i read reviews in favour & against it. Still i went ahead & bough it. Now this massage is for all those who gave highly negative comments about this mobile, i will request them not to give an opinion for the sake of putting a comment, you must understand the features & capabilities fully before commenting. Trust me i find this phone has amazing capability. My decision was right & for those who are seriously evaluating this model. Write to me at my email & i will give you an honest opinion.

On my phone, it wills only show the time the phone received the SMS messages and it is in the correct time zone. It doesn’t show when I actually read the messages. I believe it might have to do with your network services. My service is in USA, T-mobile.

what about it's battery life
in the case of 3g net work calls
in the case of video calls
in the case of mp3play back
in the case of wifi
and the average battery life
because it has 1120 m amp battery

help !hi everybody p990 user,i got something to ask,how to put the the artist picture in the media player ?want to use any software?thank! and the the R9 avaiable at singapore or any asian country?if i update other country F9 can become those country version?have remain chinese language ?any singapore or malysian user try this before thank?

yes ,the volume is low!but the bluetooth no pro when pair with other device! if u have tis pro ! u turn off ur device as restart ,and next u go to add device and bond the device either nokia,motorola,set a ramdon passkey 0-9 to make it easy recognize and easy pair the device!if still can not u should go to update newer vesion!mine one also have the same pro ,but after i update new version no pro at all !what is ur firmware ? R5,R7 ?now R9 is more stable! what is ur country?because certain of them only have R7 !

I bought P990I 2 days ago and i'm shocked with its very very low alerts sound is this normal or my device defected, another thing the bluetooth connection seems does not work with nokia and motorola phones if any one had any idea please.

have u are p series user before? if u are p 900 user i think u will go though p990 ,because the feature is powerful ,eventhought the n80 has 3 mp but the p990 also can take high quality picture really!for me p990 is best of the best!the screen is large ,when u writing sms , u can use the qwerty keyboard instead the hand writing is faster than hand writing,it can save the word automatically as my word! the internet bowser can support 8 pages at once times!this function is outstanding than other phone !this feature make me impress !the signal turn on when u have a miss call and incoming massege,even if ur phone is on the power auto mode !all this is my opinion when i am a user for p990 since 10 oct 2006,most of this device is good,but a bit slow when i opening application!so after u refer it ,i think u can know it which phone u wish to choose !good luck
